no *!@# high speed is better, not all people can afford or get it because of where they live or the price
If you're somewhere you can get it, its relatively inexpensive - I'd say the 20-30 dollars more a month vs. dial-up of any sort would be worth it.... if you can't afford that, well, I'm surprised to see you raiding at all, not being able to support your hobby very well like that.... or if you're not the adult of the house and aren't allowed to make the decisions on those sort of things (or the parents said NO!) it should be a sign that they think your priorities should be focused elsewhere, and they likely hate watching you veg in front of the computer.
If you're somewhere where its not available, that just sucks, and there's not a lot of options.
I said *I* would move, I know a lot of people don't have that option - getting bent over someone saying they would isn't going to help your horrible dial-up stay connected.
The suggestions made before; try to avoid using any additional memory/bandwidth while running WoW, kill unneeded processes on the machine, turn down all your video/audio (yes, audio too) settings as low as possible in WoW itself - these things might help if you're stuck in this situation. Just don't expect miracles - you'll never have a lagless connection to WoW, especially in an instance/raid. There are just too many sprites to follow, too much information going through the connection to process fast enough while connected via a phone modem.
Personally I'd get a new hobby that didn't involve the internet. But that's just me.

I would have to agree with this. I can understand why you would want to play, but you really are letting other party members down by playing the game at an extremely high latency. I seriously doubt that you are able to play at your full potential at such high latency levels, especially with said disconnections.

In short, we're dismissing satellite as an option for people unfortunate enough to be stuck with dial-up due to a combination of costing too much for sucking so hard.
@oneoftwelve: Yeah, that was weird, huh. LoL forum glitch.

Luckily I live in a country where access to 1mb internet connection is enforced by law. Well, not yet but in a year it is.
