In most cases youre going to want to get it off of yourself. Waiting it out doesnt hurt that bad as far as damage goes but if you arent ready to move and pick them up when the burrow then the raid is most likely going to wipe.
Keep in mind the mobile worm will do frontal breath attacks so tanks do need to take care not to face them towards the raid when moving together to clear debuffs.
In normal modes this part of the encounter is usually the most challenging for newer groups as moving, re-picking up the worms, and managing the fire and poison debuffs can be a challenge.

Hey guys, I just joined a raiding guild for ToC 10/25 reg and heroic content. I just have one question about Acid Maw. When I (the tank) gets the poison debuff, do I run over to the tank on Dreadscale so I can remove it or do I just wait it out?
The Dreadscale/Acidmaw fight is actually pretty complicated and a LOT of people still don't understand exactly how it works.
Acidmaw (poison) starts immoble and Dreadscale (fire) is mobile. Immoble worms cast their debuff on a random person and it splashes to others nearby. Mobile worms cast their debuff on the tank who has agro.
Therefore, in phase 1, random people will get poisoned and should move toward the Dreadscale tank (with burning bile), ensuring they don't get in front (molton spew) and don't run in poison clouds on the ground. In 25m heroic difficulty we do a tank swap on Dreadscale so that the the burning bile tank is free to run into the raid to clear poison without turning Dreadscale.
In phase 2, after they switch, the Acidmaw tank is going to get poisoned and a random (or multiple) raid members will get the Burning Bile. It is those raid members' jobs to run toward the Acidmaw tank and clear him. The Acidmaw tank should not try and clear himself for two reasons: 1) he needs to keep Acidmaw faced away from the raid, and 2) the burning bile could be on any raid member and the tank won't know exactly where to run. However, it is quite easy for the raid member with burning bile to find the Acidmaw tank (hint: he's standing in front of a big mobile worm).
So, generally, it is the raid member's job to move, either toward a burning bile tank to clear their poison, or toward a poisoned tank to unpoison him.
