I have a level 25 rogue and want to start him truckin' on the path to 80. I have read that combat offers the most survivability and sustained damage, and that I should use swords. However, I am going to want to PvP on the way to 80, probably killing everyone I see, and I'm not sure as to the viability of using swords in world PvP. And spamming SS x5 and then eviscerating doesn't sound "fun" for leveling.
I want to use Heirloom Items so that I don't have to be running instances etc, and just for the coolness effect, but I can't decide if I should invest my stone keepers shards and emblems of heroism on Sharpened Scarlet Kris + Balanced Heartseeker or Battleworn Thrash Blade + Venerable Dal'rend's Charge. I am definitely respeccing mutilate at 50, but is it more valuable to use heirloom items UNTIL then, or AFTER I hit 50?
PS: Is combat daggers at all decent for leveling?

In my alt's experience, heirloom items are priceless on the way to mid 70s. You level absurdly fast now with the experience nerf to levels and since they scale with level, its unbeatable.
As far as your spec, world PvP is so few and far between now I wouldn't bother worrying about spec'ing just for that. Spec for whats going to PvE you through the levels the quickest and grind out those mobs and quests.
So far the rogue alts I've seen using heirloom items to level has been the thrash blade combo.

Ah thanks, I just read the comments on thrash blade and it seemed like the proc rate was rediculously low, and since it had no stats I wasn't sure about it. But thanks for you input, I think I'll go with combat swords!
