Question: Self-inflicted pain.

Since my last question was answered rather sufficiently to a degree surpassing my expectations, I would like to impose another question for the Wowhead Randomness Community.
Self-inflicted pain exists everywhere, although we don't always see it that way. The most common example I can give you would be spicy foods and physical exercise, or even mental for that thought.
So, my question is, do you ever inflict pain on yourself? And for what reason? What is the threshold for you to stop that pain?
Do you consider the pain in your muscles from a long jog a pain? Do you consider a sun tan to be painful?
How about the accidental pains of a mishap during shaving? Or a heartburn due to excessive fatty foods?
Thanks and regards,
-blademeld

I'm well aware of endorphins, but I wanted a wider answer than because it feels good afterwards.
Or is that the only reason?

If I find something that has that numbing pain, like a loose tooth when I was younger, I'd cause the pain more.

i inflict lots of pain on myself...
1. i should be focusing in school, taking summer classes and applying for interns.
reason: i am pathetic...
threshold to stop pain: just do it....
2. i eat fatty foods knowing that it will lead to cancer, heart attack, stroke, and obesity knowingly..
reason: i am pathetic ...
threshold to stop pain: move out and live independently
3. i ignore my feelings towards the one i really love most and smile away while my friend dates her.
reason: i am pathetic ...
threshold to stop pain: confront her and tell her i love her knowing she will completely trash me in return but at least i got an answer.... =(
5. i abuse my body by not exercising it
reason: i am retarded.
threshold to stop pain: park 20 minutes from college and walk...
i know that i am hurting myself, but i am still doing it.....
i guess....the reason is, i don't have my priorities straight, or i don't want it straight.....
chicken with head cut off ftw...

I kind of figured when he meant pain he meant it in a physical sense.
And if you're feeling pain when you exercise, you're doing it wrong. There's "burn" which is the feeling you get in your muscles when you work them, and then "pain" which is the feeling you get when you actually hurt something. They're easy to mix up at first, but when you start working out you begin to know when you're feeling what and you actually get used to the burn.

The burn is what I was referring to.
Anyways, another thought: flu shots: do you take them?
I know I don't.

spicey foods do not inflict pain... well.. they shouldn't if they are prepared with the proper amount of spice.

Well, the spiceyness itself is a kind of pain, isn't it?
Not really. There's a difference between pain and discomfort.
But I mean, doesn't spicy food affect the pain receptors in your mouth?
No it triggers the spice/bitter receptor
