Something else that you might not have thought of, which I use all the time, when jumping down off something, use Eyes to guide your pet down safely, then put it on Stay, debuff and jump down. This prevents those issues where you jump down and pet decides to run around an entire instance bringing the mobs to you.
It also prevents you from losing the 50 happiness from dismissing and recalling your pet, saving you a little food :)

Interesting quirk with eyes of the beast:
If you fall a great distance while eyes of the beasting, your pet will die upon hitting the ground even though pets are normally immune to fall damage...
I noticed this when I tried jumping down into Azshara from Winterspring by dashing my cat, running forwards and then jumping off a cliff many many many moons ago. :-)
I ran my pet off of Teldrassil once, it died. :(

I was thinking it would be good to pull mobs out of a house or other crowded area where LoS becomes a pain.
I sometimes use EotB to pull caster and ranged mobs around corners in instances -- works great, but you have to convince your group that its a valid technique, and after you get misdirect at L70 its usefulness diminishes.

If you have a pet with prowl, it's nice for peaking in to buildings to check out the situation when you can't get inside normally :)
