PUG Groups - Summoning Ettiquette

I'll start with a story...
Last week I(Enh Shammy) was invited to a group for H-HoL. I was the last person invited to the group. I then flew from Dalaran to the summon stone at Ulduar. When I got to the summon stone I put in party chat asking for someone else to help summon. The rest of the group members argued with each other over who was going to help me summon. I waited for 10 minutes and no one else left Dalaran, so I promptly left the group.
One thing that bugs me is being the last person invited to the group, but being the first one to show up at the summon stone. I did not join your group so you could be lazy and talk in Trade chat with other people while you wait to be summoned. You invited me, you summon me.
Does everyone else have problems with group members not wanting to help summon?
*Sorry about venting, I feel better now.

normally i always go to the stone, and just as often another person is willing to go. I haven't ever really seen an argument about who will summon when in a Heroic group.
It does get worse for raids however, since so many people are in the group, everyone just figures "oh, someone else will handle it"

General etiquette: Group is full, everyone heads to the stone, the first two there help summon.

I head to the stone as I start forming the group. Then again I generally don't PuG and everyone makes their way to the stone and we just summon the stragglers.
Even when I have PuGed, I've always stated "Someone going to help me summon? Kinda don't have all day ya know." That gets them moving... but probably only because I'm a tank...

I always head to the instance when I PuG. I haven't encountered any difficulties yet with summoning. I would prefer to summon far-off group members rather than waste time waiting.
The only thing I have seen that really burns my biscuit, is when the same person (or people) wait for resurrection after a group wipe rather run in with the rest of us.

I can understand your frustration, I've had it happen too.
But personally, i don't make snappy remarks to try and get people to come and summon. When i join a group and we are full (whether i created the group or am the last to join) I simply say "Omw to stone."
Usually once I say that, at least one other will say "Me too." Because they know someone else will be there to help.
If no one says anything, everyone assumes someone else will do it.
Now if I get to the stone and no one is showing up? Then i will make a snappy remark. ^_~

This. ^^^
No matter what toon I am on, as soon as I join a group for an instance, I drop what I'm doing (unless finishing will take <1 minute), empty my bags, stock up on any necessary items (water, food, arrows, reagents, etc.), and then head immediately to the stone. I am usually the second person to arrive. First if I organized the group.
The only time I don't follow the order I just posted is if it is clearly stated right after I join that two people are already there, or are on their way. Beyond that, I do exactly what I said.

I remember when I took sociology there is a theory that the more people there are involved, the less each individual person feels responsibile, and the less likely they are to go out of their way to help someone, or do something nice.
I'll be darned if I can't remember the name of that theory, but it sounds like it applies rather aptly here.
On a similar note, that same mentality seems to follow during raids with multiple mages for tables, warlocks for stones, and paladins for blessings. Just thought it was interesting to see it related to the summoning as well. Hehe.

I am positive at least 2 of you are just saying I go to the summoning immediately to make yourselves look good.
If I'm in a group, two closest people head to the stone.
A bit off topic, but here is HORRIBLE etiquette.
(Going to summon for Underbog)
I'm running in Zangarmarsh, meet another group member.
Me : Come on, let's summon.
Him : *Kills mobs*
Me : *Figures he's on a quest* Dude do your quest later!
Him : ...
Me : DUDE!
Him : Man just let me finish! And then I'll come summon.
Me : *Sigh* Fine...
I help him kill.
Him : Ok I'm done.
Him drops group.

Without questions, this is what should normally happen... normally.
