Prot is fun. Was and is fun.
Spec prot, get something ass-hard like
and go to BG's.
The IWIN moment is guaranteed.
To the mana problem, untile you got Divine Plea, use your Blessing of Sanctuary and PULL MORE MOBS.
Of course, watch for horde, if you're on a pvp server. Although, if you truly prot, you can eat them as well.

Okey, the thing is I dont want to be retribution. But at my current level (58) I am heading to Outland and doing quests. I do not want to grind my way to level since grinding is a lot pain and time.
And now I think there will be a lot easier to get block stats and defense stats. My block value in Azeroth was around 5% which is way to low to live on Blessing on Sanc. With Holy shield and redoubt up around 65% equals awesome but still not enough to get proper mana back.

Grinding is faster than questing at certain key levels. Especially once you hit the grinding quests in Nagrand. And having said that, it's not like you need to grind, just aim to pull more mobs when you're questing normally.
Blessing of Sanc procs on Dodge, Parry or Block
. With Holy Shield up only, providing you gear properly, you should get at least 65-70% even at lower levels. If you have 4 mobs on you, hitting you every 2 seconds, that's 2.8% of your mana back every second on average. Compare that to Divine Plea (what you said you're holding out for previously), which is 25% over 15 seconds, or 1.67% per second.
Get "of the Champion" gear for Str, Stam and Def. Instead of running after people one at a time and moving on, run past and grab a group together, and kill them all at the same time. And if it doesn't involve killing things, then it doesn't matter what spec you are. If you're doing it right, then mana won't be an issue.

What
Squishalot
said.
When i hit Outland on my Paladin, i started to stack defense and avoidance, at level 63 i was def capped and i've maintained cap to the 80. Remember your defense SKILL (one that +5 points per level) is your base, and once you ding, it takes some time to get these 5 points back, and you will still not be capped if you was on the edge. Two things helps alot on this point:
, if you can find someone to craft one, and, after level 65, Jewelcrafting with
+many def gem
and insane
turtle trink
.
Do not hesitate to take party in instances. Protection is a party class, and instance runs teach you tanking from personal expirience, much more than what you can learn from reading.
Another hint: Maintain your weapon skills close to your level. At least 1-h weapon skills. Rather shameful moment if you get a definite upgrade you can't wield effectively, because your weapon skill in that area is in noob state.
P.S.
+Seal of Vengeance = win.

During AoE, Consecrate will do more damage than Holy Shield, however, holy shield will: reduce damage intake, add more damage, increase mana flow from BoSanct, Holy shield is 10% base mana and will return 16% base mana for a net of 6% bonus.
I would not worry about mana regen and pool if I were you.

@ kbdcb - glad you enjoy it.
@ armill3 - the plate gear you should be aiming for are green items 'of the Champion' - this will provide you with Str, Stam and Def rating. Def rating gives you avoidance and mana recovery. So no, you don't need to worry about mp5 and mana recovery. Just keep aiming to become as avoidable as you can.
Seal of Wisdom/Judgement of Light vs Seal of Light/Judgement of Wisdom - the proc rates on the Seal and the Judgement are identical, as far as my real world experience goes. So just work out which gets you better returns.
Personally, I would go Seal of Light/Judgement of Light, and pull more mobs to get better mana recovery.

I'd say, their outcome is identical. Been leveling my weapon skills, i've had enough time to try different combinations of them two.
If you not intended to use JoW (in my case - to have mob live longer), put up Seal of Wisdom and enjoy your manapool.
If you need real mana source during short fight (i consider 2-3 min is short - it's enough to bring down average quest "elite" of your level), you are doing something wrong, or seriously undergeared.

They are not the same, for one thing, SoL is based on AP and SP.

Sorry, i wasn't clear, It was meant to compare Judgement of Wisdom and Seal of Wisdom.
Post by
blademeld
Judgement of wisdom has a 2% mana back at 50% rate, Seal of Wisdom has 4% mana at 15 PPM.
With only auto-attacks:
With a 1.5 speed weapon judgement gives you 0.667% per second
With a 2.0 speed weapon judgement gives you 0.500% per second
With a 2.5 speed weapon judgement gives you 0.400% per second
With the seal you should be recieving 1% mana per second.

Then I've had bad luck with seal... it was about 0.7 with seal, and about the same with Judgement.
Gonna check it more, still have plently of skills to finish.

May be due to the fact that you were leveling your weapons.
