Here are articles for reference:
Scientists accused of 'manipulating global warming data'
E-mail leak turns up heat on global warming advocates
Hackers 'expose global warming con': Sceptics claim that leaked emails reveal research centre massaged temperature data
E-Mail Hacks Heat Up Global Warming Debate
Climategate: the final nail in the coffin of 'Anthropogenic Global Warming'?
In short: Hackers got into The University of East Anglia's Climatic Research Unit's email and found evidence that scientists were fudging the data to help the theory that humans are the cause of global warming.
The actual documents that they obtained can be found
here
, There are a lot and I've only skimmed a couple.
Thoughts?
Edit: found this
story
that seems to contradict what the others are saying...it's sounds like a article written by a crying baby though, so I'm lead to assume she &*!@ed up her information.

Note: I found this independantly, and posted it in the News Articles thread. I guess word gets out fast. It seemed so obvious that ManBearPig was just a lie to rally votes... or relevance... for Al Gore. It's like race and Jesse Jackson. It is an excuse to exist, feeding off of society instead of contributing. I hate leeches.

Global warming might not be factual, I personally never put much stock in it, but that doesn't mean that we don't have environmental impacts. Our actions have had effects on various natural habitats and the animals in them, and that can often hurt local economies.

If cherry-picked out-of-context (possibly faked) phrases from stolen personal emails is the only response to the weight of the scientific evidence for the human influence on climate change, then there probably isn’t much to it.
We are aware that information from a server used for research information
in one area of the university has been made available on public websites,”
the spokesman stated.
“Because of the volume of this information
we cannot currently confirm
that all of this material is genuine.
”
“This information has been obtained and published without our permission
and we took immediate action to remove the server in question from
operation.”
“We are undertaking a thorough internal investigation and we have involved
the police in this enquiry.

You know, I'd laugh if the 'trick' that the global warming researchers used are simply tools to remove short-term effects in the process of identifying long-term regressions. This could indeed be interpreted as 'hiding recent cooling data'.
The email seems like it's been taken out of context. They had hundreds of emails leaked, and they identified it in one or two?
