Well tbh I know we have all had bad experiances with people in pugs but I gotta say, around 80-90% of the people that you get for a pug will know what their doing and will do their part no problem. You just have to identify who is bad and...
1-Dont invite them to your pug/dont join theirs
2-Try to explain to them how to play (Nicely of course)
All in all pugs are a good way to get gear and/or enjoy the game. If you dont like pugging that fine also but you can never judge a whole group of people by 1 or 2 incidents. Its also worth pointing out that 5 mans and even 10m os/nax are pretty easy to do and dont require everyone to be hardcore players.

I for one like to pug, it keeps things interesting imo. The game just feels like a chore when raids/instances are done exactly the same way.
*edit*
I've only ran into one ninja, a filthy Lock, so i haven't had many troubles with them.

Pugging FTW. I do it almost all the time. I may have a guildie or to available, but many times I just hit the LFG channel and rally the troops. I would say my success rate is around 90%. The 10% are groups that someone else puts together and are fail or groups that morph as I build them when rude people expose themselves after an invite, I then replace them and run just fine after they leave. I've gotten in the habit of expressing my plans and loot rules at the start of the run. If I do have drop outs I grab a friend (non-guildie on my list) if available or have someone else add a friend.
How else do you meet people in MMORPG? So many times good puggers hit my friends list and that just equates to more PUG success later on.

This is true. As I was leveling my first wow character (warrior tank), I ended up with a healthy list of people on my friends list I met through PuG'ing. They were all very helpful, as far as instructions for tanking and advice for gear / talents.
But there will *always* be the terrible PuGs to ruin your day. And the worst of those will always be Blackrock Depths at Lvl55.

Pugging is a necessary evil, no matter what people say.
Whenever someone complains about a bad pug, the general reply is: don't pug, do guild runs. I've been in a guild with 500 members, and most of the time I pugged, because either none of them were my level, I didn't know how good the others were, or because I knew they were no good.
People on end up on your friends list because of pugs. Sure, they might end up there after a rare group quest that went very well, but those hardly last 5 minutes, and it's hard to make a judgement in only 5 minutes.
Also the only reason I invite someone in my guild is after good pugrun, so I know I can rely on him in the future. A few weeks ago, my guild ran the Nexus with a guildless hunter, and since it went very smoothly, he's no longer guildless. If you want a social guild, you invite everyone you meet, but if you are a guild that wants to do more (be it serious or casual), you'll pug and invite the good ones.
Just remember, for every five scrubs you pug with, there's one great player that ends up on your friends list, who'll call upon you in time of need so you can ninja some epic phat lootz you never could have touched otherwise.

PUG are very usefull only if all followed this.
Require:
>well equiped player for the aimed raid
>know all tact and encounter
>onest and good ppl
>know how to play your class to put out the best
Result:
>ultra fast raid complete (es. a naxxa 10 in almost 3-4h or voa 25 in 15 min)
>no wipes
>no time wasted on explain tact
>no goofing around
>drop with roll on main spec
Pug on my realm is the better way to make voa, os, eye 10 and 25 in 1 afternoon a week.
Otherwise it's hard to find a decent pug because:
>ppl not equiped want join
>ppl that doesn't know tact want join
>stupid rl that want only to ninja
>ppl that don't want to wait while search for other ppl

I'm a dps who's heard of the pain PuGs are and has such vowed to help his group when in one as much as possible by reading up on the tactics before we do them and throwing in heals and such whenever needed.
I've stopped many a wipe by healing the tank when the real healer goes down.
