My stock conservative answer is, that whoever takes the most advantage of what their class has to offer is going to do better.
In a pinch, there's no silver bullet that'll save someone last minute. Regardless of mana or rage dependence, it comes down to how efficiently and quickly you can overcome your opponent.
Go forth, kick ass, and prove your opinion by your actions.

I'll give you a clue.... one of them sucks and it's the one without mana.
Without your bubble and instaheal, most warriors would wipe the floor with the facerolling filth that is the general population of the retribution paladin.
Ignorance is abundant alongside the laziness of the common person in PvP.

I've never lost to a equivalent leveled Paladin since I was in my mid 40's and learned how to fight them, assuming a cold start (me no Rage, full health, him / her full health and mana). And that's with hundreds of play hours in every BG there is.
I detested them when I first started PvP back then, but you learn their tricks soon enough. Now, when they bubble and heal, I just back off and /lol a few times, until they are ready to start fighting again, because I know two key things:
1: They had to bubble and heal, which means they were getting beat,
and,
2: When they come out of their bubble, I'm gonna beat them again, just as hard.
Now, I am not saying Paladins are crap, and I'm not saying the people who play them are crap. But I think people underestimate how good the Warrior class can be...when it is done right.
I will never, ever say Pala's are OP any more, because they aren't really.
Priests...now THERE is OP. I am yet to kill an equivalent level PvP Priest. And it makes me cry into my coffee.
Mid 40s. Do I need to say more? Warriors will faceroll me at level 80, they just charge me, mortal strike + hamstring, rend, and then a bladestorm. Half the time it kills me even through my shields + healing + pain suppression.

I'm sorry, I know it's not what you want to hear, but thanks for saying that :)
I love knowing Warriors can and do do well, as it's the class I feel the most love for.
Being a very traditional RPG staple, Warriors seem to have flirted with being the "newb" class, and at times, I think, pretty under powered. I think they're in a good place now, and long may it continue.
I'd hate to see this iconic class be everybodies last choice because it seems a little...plain?

It's these kind of people (referring to the poster) that bring Retribution to shame. That and the Flavour of the Month rerollers. I'd like to remind people not everyone rolled a bloody Paladin in Wrath of the Lich King. And if I knew I'd get a ton of crap for rolling one it would never have been one of my first classes of choice when I first started played.

Sorry to both of you, but Zora, you're not playing right if you're just sitting there having been charged, mortal striked, hamstrung, and rended, before they hit you with bladestorm. That's 6 seconds of being pounded where you haven't stunned, repented, or otherwise disposed of the Warrior. And if you don't know the difference between Divine Shield and Divine Protection, then that's your own loss. Even Hand of Protection will prevent Bladestorm from ripping you up.
Mike - I'm supposing that you've never fought against a good Prot paladin? You know, the types who actually dish out 2k damage in blocks when you bladestorm them, and don't take a scratch. Who have the 20 sec stun cooldown, the 20% damage mitigation after armour, and the shield that makes them invincible against melee.
Sacred Shield generally is a b17c# to try to eat through in PvP, and Ret paladins often talent it. So I'm thinking that you've faced too many retardins, and not enough good Paladins, of any class.
But a pally way over a warrior, we can tank just as good, usually have higher DPS and oh yea I can heal, which might save your warrior butt one day.
I agree completely, isn't this a major problem? Pallys are completely broken, they don't have any downside; Casters with plate, DPSers with heal, tanks with huge damage and bubble. I don't understand how this makes sense.
We can be casters now? Who took the CD off Exorcism?

!@#$, sorry i was playing my ret paladin.
wow. one ability rotation= worst noob ret pally ever. L2P and throw in something fancy that makes your faceroll class worth facerolling
Search in the Paladin forum for 'Quest'. Look up his Ret rotation macros. Then L2faceroll the proper way :P

With several hundred hours spent in Battlegrounds, fighting teams of 6 Paladins in WSG, and 15 Paladins, 15 DK's, and a few assorted others in AV...I'm sure I must have met one. Once. Somewhere along the way.
I spent well over a month at 69, then probably another THREE months at 70, just running BG's, and now I'm sitting at 79, running as many as I can do in a day. I've seen twinks come and go, I've learned to recognise certain names, and know what their skill set was going to be, and how best to deal with them.
I've fought Retardins, Healadins, Prots, and you know what? In 1 v 1, straight out of the blocks, I don't EVER remember losing, since, as I pretty much stated earlier, I was a newbie lowbie idiot who thought auto attack was how you killed people.
Oh, and I never Bladestorm anyone. I'm a PvP Protection Warrior. And that's where their problem lies, because they are too used to facerolling squishy nub zerkers.

Yes, we faceroll. So have druids in most of BC. Warlocks, at some point. Rogues, since vanilla.

Ahh, that explains things! *respect* But with that in mind, you're probably the same, used to 'facerolling squishy nub retardins'.
Having said that, you would know very well that as Prot, you don't expect any melee opponent to beat you in a 1-on-1, unless they're Prot too. And sadly, a Prot Paladin has the one-up on a Prot Warrior, partly because of heals, but mostly because of the sheer amount of non-mitigating Holy damage that Pallys do. At least, from personal experience. The bubble is just an extra 'just in case' button.
It's a slow battle, and it never usually finishes as 1-on-1, since by the time anyone gets near low health, other people have joined the fight in a BG. But from a full-health starting position and equally skilled/geared combatants, I would put my money on the Paladin every time, especially with the changes in 3.2 now favouring Prot Paladins significantly in a longer fight (Seal of Vengeance), and a Cheat Death ability every two minutes (in addition to the bubble every couple minutes and the Lay on Hands, which I'm not even factoring into the equation).
Edit: For the record, the only time in my recollection that I was beaten by a Warrior 1v1 was when I made the mistake of taking on a Fury warrior in Wintergrasp while he had Tenacity at 360% or something. (90k health should have tipped me off, eh?) But that didn't stop me from taking him down to 40k or so, no bubble.
