As for PvP I know when I was drawn to WoW I thought "Who would roll on a PvE server? Isn't the point to have interaction?" Of course I did not know the extent of PvE servers as I had (and still have not) tried one. Now I know better, you can be flagged for PvP and of basically get to PvP whenever you want (which is kinda nice). However I believe I read somewhere that PvP servers are more popular and thus a mention of PvP would be applicable.
Thanks for not tearing me up on my first response, it was late and I was a little out of sorts and so may have came off like a jerk (srry if I did =D) I think this guide will help a lot of new mages and even some who are stuck and need help.
Sadly, nowadays the most world pvp you'll be doing while levelling is getting ganked all the way up and down southshore or stranglethorn vale by level 80s. Very few people (at least on my server) go to BGs before the lvl 80 bracket, and most of the ones that DO are twinks or DKs (in the 50-59 bracket).
also, pvping on a mage before lvl 80 is a very emo experience, as mages are very difficult to pvp well with. (hell, even at 80 it's still one of the most difficult classes to do well as.) chances are, if you're in a mad rush to hit 80, you won't spend a lot of time pvping anyway. for everything else, look at the pvp guide in my sig..
(and no, i won't include a twink thing to my pvp guide, because that would take more time to look up at what levels you get certain spells and what have you.. and that's just not my thing.)
