Its rare among good rogues, i feel, to go combat maces for a few obvious reasons.
1. Mace spec doesnt add any damage. Most good rogues will be raiding and want to maximise thier damage, thus combat sowrds or fists (or both).
And 2. good maces are hard to come across.
Combat maces is imo the best PvP spec and the coolest.
While you do miss out on 5% crit or a windfury I still put out large damage with both my season 2 maces and pwn way more in PvP, while also feeling really good about having them. If you really want maces, get them. Despite the small DPS loss I dont at all regret getting my maces and encourage more mace spec rogues.

as bluebadger said, combat maces is an extremely good arena spec, but lacks in dmg compared to other specs
The reasons why its such a good arena spec
~stuns stuns stuns. Maces stun and that means opponents rendered unable to attack or defend themselves.
~You may not get the extra attacks u get from swords but they hit hard
~As far as i know the best arena rogues have this spec cause of its resilience, +4% stam, +10% resist fear and stuns and undodgable finishing moves
As for pve. All rogues do decent dmg. yes you probably wont be able to top the dmg meters with this spec cause u dont get any extra attacks(swords) or +5% crit(daggers, fists), but you will be an aid for your healers cause of those stuns of yours.
As for orcbane. how many players do u know with t6 yet?
keep it realist :)

I am just curious to how other rogues felt about the use of maces for PvE & PvP. I am currently a lvl 61 combat swords. In my realm Steamwheeled Cartel we have a lvl 70 combat mace rogue that rules PVP! It seems that not too many rogues chose this spec. What do you think...
Combat maces is one of the best ways of staying a high DPS combat build with giving a little bit to your PvPing. Anyone who says maces don't add to your damage doesn't understand how space spec works, it currently adds weapon skill with maces, and in 2.3 that will be changed over to 5% crit with maces and you can spec into the expertise talent as well.
The HIGHEST DPS spec is fist/sword dual spec if you're interested in that.

Maces give you no bonuses and if you want to do damage go daggers. The whole purpose of rogues is to attack fast and do lots of damage with that. for exmaple get items that inrease ur haste then get 2 pieces of T6 armor and make sure u have blade flurry. Then get liek 3 combo points on a boss us SnD then blade flurry and ur attack speed will b at liek .6 if u do it probably but make sure to sue fient other wise u will get agor and die liek illi does to me. If you want me to tell you good equipment or need help while player email me some tiem and i will help u out gegs_mac@yahoo.com
do you speak english?

Nobody believes that you have any kind of a rogue with T6, or the dagger off Illidan. If you did, you would know for a fact that combat swords is the far superior raid DPS spec and that Shadowstep is total shit. You know neither. Stop posing.

Well put Darcius good to see another common sense spec rogue on the forums lol.

Maces are sick for PvP due to the random stun not being on the same Diminishing Return as controlled stuns (i.e. Kidney Shot)
I haven't played my rogue as maces yet, but I arena on my Shadow Priest, and I can't tell you how many times a random Blackout Proc saved my ass.
And as someone else mentioned, in 2.3 Mace Spec gains +5% crit damage.
