I think that the topic says it all.
With the greater prevalence of abilities that have a knockback mechanic, both in PvP and in PvE encounters, it would be nice for Blizzard to offer a resistance or reduction to knockback effects, especially for tank classes.
I don't think that every class/spec should have resistance, nor should it be a 100% chance to resist, but having played MMOs in the past (specifically, City of Heroes) that had a heavy use of knockback mechanics, a chance to resist the effect was very helpful.

knockback resistance in the form of not getting knocked back by things like typhoon, thunderstorm, etc?
don't think that'll ever happen...
Just a chance to not get knocked back. Not a guarantee.
Again, it's not something unheard-of. When I played City of Heroes 4 years ago, a large number of opponents, both PvP and PvE, had attacks that did knockback/knockdown; when I say "a large number", I mean basically every class had a knockback/knockdown attack of some sort. So they offered a chance to resist that mechanic. Since the mechanic seems to be growing more common in WoW, it's just something to ponder.

even a chance to not get knocked back would be a bit much, it's a class' escape mechanic after all and you
should
be forced to use a capture mechanic to counter it not just walk right throught it.
if anything of the sort was added it would be a knockback reduction reducing the distance your flung but i doubt that'll happen

I highly suggest that Blizzard implements a "Lead Weights" item that you can enchant your armor with.
If they did it'd be on your boots (wouldn't make sense anywhere else) and you'd be forced to walk instead of run, thus making them completely useless.
"SOMEONE STUN THAT GUY SO I CAN HIT HIM, HE'S MOVING TOO FAST"
lol
on topic, I don't really mind the pushback effect, if your dying from it then heres 2 tips
1- stay away from shamans/druids in the air :P
2- don't stand on the edge of a cliff >.>
besides come 3.2.2 shamans thunderstorm is reduced to 10 yards from 20 and druids is increased to match the 10 yards.

it's the typhoon knockback that's being increased to match the shaman's knockback but yes, if knockbacks are killing you from druids, shaman, and mages then don't stand near a cliff

There's your answer. In City of Heroes
every
class had it, so they worked it in as a resist mechanic.
In WoW only two classes have it, and they need it. Besides they're spells, if you can resist the spell, you can resist the knock back, and yeah PvE wise it's part of the encounter/mob.
Good point. I exaggerate a bit when I say every class had it, but a good number of them did, so perhaps that's why the felt it more necessary.
I usually don't get blown off cliffs, but playing a Paladin, with only melee attacks, it can be frustrating at times because we're possibly the most easily-kited class in the game currently. Granted, that's for a reason; if a Ret (the spec I don't play, heh) gets close to a Shaman/Druid/Mage they're probably dead.

I rarely see a shaman or a druid OR a mage win against paladins. Druids do have the best chance though. And the mage knockback is incredibly wimpy.

Yea i was just healing SL (Old instance, but i digress) and i was on the final boss. There was a level 78 running them and he died several times on the boss, just because of the bosses 30-ft in the air knockback ability.
