I think you make a good point there but I highly doubt that Blizz would make any sort of change to that mechanic as it would be pretty complex to code for I would think. Where would you draw the line as well, do shield spikes count as an example, they do damage but they aren't really a major buff by any means.
Love to see it just doubt it would happen.

What I find puzzling is why armor patches are not counted in your talented or dire bear modifier?
Really who would want those stupid +20 or whatever value there is to armor if this is not directly added to armor value of an item worn? Even + to spirit enchant far is better than those tiny amount of additional armor.
Armor patches should directly modify item armor value and can be put on along with enchants. Then they would be at least useful (at least for druids).

I cant think of any reason why someone would choose to usa weapon chain over savagery
for me, if i get sun eater, i'll put weapon chain on it over mongoose for constant parry rate

Maybe it's because enchanting is meant to improve items, while blacksmithing isn't?
If everyone would take other enchantments on their gear instead of the enchanting ones, why would anyone take enchanting then?
