Only paladins get Lay on Hands...QQ.
Only Shamans get a self-res...QQ.
Only Druids get battle-res...QQ.
We have enough tools of our own, we don't need the ones which help to differentiate the other healers.

Hehe, I tried healing on my paladin, but got very bored and went back to the versatility of a priest. ;)
Divine Hymn is incredible under the right circumstances too.

Priest are jack of all trades master of none. We already have some cool moves such as guardian spirit (what other class can fully stop a wipe twice in 1 fight.(The extra 40% healing is plus) Spirit of redemption is nice too 15 seconds after you die of free heals and then get a battle rezzed or soulstoned (Even in pugs we will try hard to either find a druid or warlock of any spec just for this powerful ability)

Actually, I believe Blizzard specifically said in their Priest Q&A that Priests are the Jack of All Trades, but not the master of none (not the exact wording). Though they want to make sure all the healing classes are capable of healing anything, that doesn't mean that they plan to create niche healing specs for each one. As example of changes BC+WotLK brought:
Druids historically were HoT-fiends, using them to occur most of their healing. This made them semi-crappy tank healers. Now, they are given Nourish, which though not ideal, is a step in that direction.
Pallys have, historically, been single target tank healers. With the introduction of Beacon of Light, they can now single-handedly keep two tanks up. Ok, thats not a massive step.
Before WotLK, Disc. was really seen as a cooldown-based Tank healing spec. With the introduction of Penance, plus a slew of new talents, it has now become a more consistant tank healing spec, with the capacity for some serious raid healing as well.
The way I see it, Blizzard wants to give each healing class unique abilties that differentiate it from the others (IE Divine Hymn, Battle Rez, Totems, Beacon); however, these abilities will not extend as far as to create the aforementioned niches which only one class can fill. Come cataclysm, I think we are going to see healers on a 99% level playing ground (everyone can tank heal, everyone can raid heal, etc), but what will make you choose one over another will genuinly be the players skill.
Also, did someone seriously say that "Battle-Rez" makes druids unique and versatile? Of course, ignore the fact that they are the only class that can effectively and masterfully cover all four possible roles in a group (dependent on talent and gear configuration, no doubt). Honestly, though, I do kind of feel that it is unfair Druids get a battle rez, a powerful mana-regen tool, a party-wide heal, a 1-second tick PvP nightmare HoT, the versatility/survivability of Plate Armor, the near-damage of a rouge, the unmatched raid utility of their form's specific 5% auras, a stealth, and can do all of this with a simple talent and gear change. Everyone else has to reroll.
Druids are like the mafia. Their reach is everywhere, and if you try to contain them in one way, they just respec and do something else. God forbid you ever suggest a nerf.

that was the original reason why only two races could be druids...to help curb their popularity

Yes, because no one will ever want to play the massive cow-people or the pretty night-elves.
Also, as factual as your statement is, warcraftrealms.com overall server data puts night elf popularity at 16% (3rd) and tauren at 9% (6th). Doesn't seem to have stopped people from playing druids, since the class stands at 10% (3rd not counting DKs) overall.

The thought just occurred to me:
Priests are supposed to be the ultimate healers. Obviously all healing classes can compete but priests are supposed to have the most tools to use and rightly so. Healing is, after all, the staple of thier class. This is why i find it odd that druids are the only ones to get a battle rez. If anyone gets to have a battle rez it seems like priests should have it.
I play a resto shaman so it really wouldn't effect me, but it really seems like priests should have this tool. What do you guys think?
Priests are the only class with two healing trees.
Disc
Powerful tank healing
A more than acceptable alternative to raid healing through empowered damage mitigation
Improved Power Word: Shield, Soul Warding, Reflective Shield, Renewed Hope, Borrowed Time, Pain Suppression, Divine Aegis
A monstrous (in some cases 15k plus), fast-acting single target heal with a fairly cheap mana cost and a CD reducable to 8 seconds
The best PvP healing talents around, IMO
Holy
By far the most versatile healing tree in the game:
plenty of tank healing talents
have in instant AoE heal
an instant AoE that does minor healing and also damage
have a slow cast, big healing AoE
have a monstrous combined AoE/HoT
have a decent, talent-improvable HoT
not one but 2 wipe preventers
have a talent for 46k base healing at only a few hundred mana cost
And they need more?
