Q
: Do you know about party mechanics, tanks/healers/DPS?
A
: No.
Read the manual, there is a section about this, or try some searching on wowwiki.com. Then proceed to...
A
: Yes.
Then all you need is to gear up, starting with "Heroic dungeons" in LFG tool, or, if your equipment is mostly green, with normal "Dungeons". You will soon discover the emblem system for obtaining loot on lvl 80, which is very simple (just a note: all vendors are in Dalaran).
Other thing is the Argent Tournament, for which you surely received an invitation in your mailbox somewhere around level 77 (or so). All you need to do there is to follow the quest lines (mostly solo-able, or fully solo-able for some classes).
And of course tons of achievements to do, world events and other things.
But before anything else, try to read the "Stickies" threads at your class forum for some serious help with your character and tons of usefull info. Usualy, they are on the top of the forum pages, but right now wowhead seems to have a trouble and just sorts threads by last response (at least for me) - I hope it gets fixed soon.

You might want to start working on the Sons of Hodir rep in Storm Peaks along with the Argent Tournament area in Icecrown.
Also farming badges/emblems by doing heroics are always a good start.

Hi, im new to wow and just got my first char to 80, now its time to start get items, what groups
should i look for? where do i start? in wich dungeons? dont wanna make a fool of my self and join wrong groups ;)
You've claim to have just gotten your first character to 80, yet don't know what to do now. You supposedly playing WoW through 80 levels of the game, right?
Someone either just bought their first 80, or doesn't know how to use Google to answer their question.
Frightening, either way.

Kik, I was in your shoes a year ago. Quested my way up to 80 with the occasional PUG but no guild or anything to help me along.
Joining a guild would be the best thing at 80, the help they will offer will be priceless as far as progressing after 80. Start with a casual guild that has around 50-100 members if you can find one.
Once you decide if you want to focus mainly on PvP or PvE you can drop that guild to look for a more specifically oriented guild. Usually you need to apply to these on their websites and you need to know your ^&*!, have gear, and some achievements for the content the guild is clearing.
As far as your class is concerned check the class forums for threads related to specs, rotations, and gear that are optimal for you.
As far as progression goes at 80 (getting better gear):
PvE: 80 Crafted Items>Dungeons>Reputation item>Heroic 80 Dungeons>OS10/25>Naxx10/25>ToC5man>Uld10/25>ToC10>25
PvP: Farm honor in BGs, play at least 10 games a week in a rated arena match to get arena points for better gear. You can buy PvP gear from vendors in Wintergrasp as well as the capitol city of your factions (Org/Stormwind).
Just read up on your class so you know what to spec and what abilities to use and toss yourself in LFG for some dungeons. Its not too hard.

This. The class forums have got a lot of pretty good guides for every class about raiding and PvP cough shamelessly plugging his holy paladin PvE guide cough.
