Its been a long while since I lvled a rogue. I do remember that combat swords was awesome for lvling. blade flurry can make quick work of multiple mobs and adrenaline rush is nice for burning down elites. One of the best thing about combat is that you aren't stuck to certain weapons for SS to work. Mutilate you are stuck with using only daggers and good daggers can sometimes be hard to find or obtain.
One other thing about combat is there isn't a need to stealth. You can easily move from one mob to the next with little downtime.

New to rogues
You've won half the battle! You spelled it right!
So many new Rogue players say "Rouge".....
Oh and btw, my name is Greg too. =) Welcome to the Rogue class!
On topic, I leveled Subtlety and found the burst to be best for questing/killing mobs. I switched to Mutilate upon reaching Outland, but found the burst to be less than Subtlety, so I switched back. In Mutilate, mobs would get 1-2 hits on me, sometimes 3. But in Subtlety, a Premeditate+Ambush+5 combo point Eviscerate and most things died, sometimes one more Hemorrhage after that would be needed. Shadowstep also speeds up the process very quickly, moving from one mob to the next.
I also find Combat to have too much downtime, having to eat/bandage after being hit by multiple mobs. People swear Combat is better, citing Blade Flurry and Adrenaline Rush... but those are on a 2 minute and 3 minute cooldown! Please... I find Subtlety easy to kill a mob every 20 seconds (Premeditation cooldown) when I have a bad dagger compared to my level... when I find a new dagger, I can kill a mob every 10-15 seconds, depending how hard I try. When I'm trying, killing 6 mobs per minute with virtually no cooldown from taking no damage, is the best for Rogues imho. Subtlety ftw. =)

in the battleground is that your same apprach stealth up pre-med - ambush - hemmo spam then evis? i try this but i find it either im not skilled enough or i just dont got good enough gear ..
btw did you get Master of subtelty post build plz btw im only lvl 35
No need for Hemo spam at all in BG's. It's useful for leveling when the mob faces you, but for BG's you should be using Backstab for much more damage, and focusing on getting behind your opponent.
But yes, then general strategy is Premeditation (2 combo points) + Ambush (gives 3 combo points with
Initiative
), then 5-combo point Eviscerate. No need to use any other moves for combo points, with Ambush and Eviscerate you can 2-shot people if they are low on health, poorly geared, you have great gear, etc. If the battle lasts past the 2-shot, Backstab them down.
^^ Ah, just realized you were level 35, don't have Premeditation yet. Yes, at BG's at that level, I remember I would try to open with a Cheap Shot or Ambush, then keep Backstabbing until I could 5-point Eviscerate.
Here's a level 35 leveling talent build:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#fZZcbfbhGkdo
This build focuses on bursting down mobs quickly, so yes, you'll want to grab Master of Subtlety. Relentless Strikes and Setup are avoided as the battle shouldn't last long. Sleight of Hand isn't useful since 2% crit is not big, and you shouldn't be using Feint much for instances. Ghostly Strike Dodge bonus isn't useful since we'll mostly be 2-3 shotting mobs.
You should develop that build to this @ lvl 50:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#fZZcbfbhGddAzV0o
3 points in Master of Subtlety, 2 in Deadliness, grab Premeditation, 3 points in Deadliness to get 5/5, 1 more point in Heightened Senses to get 2/2, 5/5 in Sinister Calling, then Shadowstep. Enveloping Shadows and Cheat Death are avoided as they are defensive, not helping your burst damage on mobs. Waylay is avoided as it doesn't help your burst, slowing speed only helps if the battle lasts.
After that, it depends on what you do for leveling. If you're solo-questing, the next 3 points should go into Assassination for Improved Eviscerate, again working on that 2-shot build. If you're doing BG's, put those 3 points in Honor Among Thieves, more combo points means more finishers. For PvP, build down to Shadow Dance. If doing instances mostly, consider putting 5/5 Dual Wield Specialization in Combat (although I don't recommend a hybrid Combat/Subtlety build for instancing, but if you don't want to pay for a respec).
Personally I leveled by solo questing and mostly BG's, so my leveling build was:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#fhxcoxZZcbfbhGddAzVfRt:zkimzV
. Except I had Glyph of Hemorrhage in place of Glyph of Ambush. That build is really great for leveling BG's, the burst damage is insane. At level 80, against geared targets with high health and resilience, reducing a lot of the crit damage, it becomes obsolete. But I highly recommend it for leveling! Premeditation, Shadowstep, Ambush, Eviscerate, and Backstab (for PvP) and Hemorrhage (for mobs), in that order, are your friends. =)

Oh and I forgot to mention. For BG's, you'll want to practice using Sap before an Ambush. Ambushing a moving target does take some practice, and it's risky if they see you, turn abruptly, etc. If they target is in combat (can't get the Sap in to setup Ambush), or you don't feel like trying to get behind them for an Ambush, try opening with Cheap Shot. =)
