Do the maximum in early quests and instances, it's quite easy to ding 70 and still have the whole of Blade's Edge, Netherstorm and Shadowmoon quests left for gold rewards.
Just do the Nagrand Arena event as soon as you hit 65, there's a nice weapon for everyone.

A very good advice on Cenarion rep is to either grind the bog lords in the dead mire in Zangarmarsh for unidentified plant parts or buy them at the AH. You need to turn in 320 (I think) of these in the Cenarion Refuge in Zangar to reach honored with CE. Then start doing quests. Will make sure your trip to exalted is that much easier.

If you hit Outland at 58, try to work in a little more mob grinding in Hellfire than quest completions to level yourself to 60. You'll want to use the bulk of Hellfire quests to get you from 60 to 61 and even 62. You can also supplement with repeated runs in Ramparts or Blood Furnace for reputation and XP before moving on to Zangarmarsh. Definitely secure a cache of Unidentified Plant Parts for Cenarion Expedition reputation - turn these in before you do any of their quests, or at least any of their Zangarmarsh quests. Plant parts will get you to Honored, where the turn-in is disabled. Then start your questing. In lieu of plant parts, run Slave Pens or Underbog for rep and XP. More Cenarion Expedition quests and rep will come in Terrokar and Blade's Edge in the near future.

This is a very good list that should help you finding the right gear for tanking and dps (though it needs some updating):

Indeed they can, and you'll even pick the occasional ancient lichen as well as motes of life from them which will bring in a nice amount of gold.
