if you spec ret, go 2 hand
prot or holy, usually better with 1 hand and shield
you can also use maces
ret = slow weapon
prot & holy doesn't really matter

I would spec ret at first because it will make leveling a little bit easier for soloing and grinding which you will mostly be doing at the beginning. And in that case you want a slow 2h weapon. Personally I would go with a mace and get that leveled up because at around level 20 you can get a really nice mace (Verigan's Fist -

) as a quest reward and you will want to be able to use it right away.

Go ret, once you hit 30 think about going holy cos then your gonna need it if you want to heal in groups.

Should I learn holy talents or something else?
Go ret, once you hit 30 think about going holy cos then your gonna need it if you want to heal in groups.
Go holy if you want to go holy, but you shouldn't invest points there unless you wanted to go holy
prot you're looking at 0 in holy
ret you're looking at maybe 5 in holy for str.
but you can always build a hybrid who can offheal and do prot or ret
and no, you don't need holy at level 30 to be able to heal i'm thinking "wth did you get that notion"
i've seen 5/8/48 paladins heal in a level 70 instance
i wouldn't recommend changing to holy unless you are instance/group leveling since holy kills a LOT slower than ret or prot

Dude, i was thinking about, if your going to heal efficiently and decently in a group, and if thats going to be how your going to level. I know many ret pallys will heal, but its not going to be a groups first choice is it.

2 things
1. you switched from using the phrase
gonna need it
to
efficiently and decently
2. even though you won't be the group's first choice, if you have experience with healing and a set of gear for healing, finding a group isn't that hard
most groups are doing "LF tank and healer" spamming in the LFG or trade channel and frankly, that just shows how easy it is to get groups for instances as long as you
can
heal.
and i've already said
i wouldn't recommend changing to holy unless you are instance/group leveling
which kind of makes your statement redundant

My suggestions are that your goal should be to as fast as possible become lvl 70, this means go retro to 35-40 then change to protection and aoe. At ~65 decide which direction you want to go, heal, tank, dps. Join a guild and see what the needs are if you are unsure.
On your way to 70.. try to raise your proffesions (I recommend alchemi/herb) and all secondary proffesions "first aid/cooking/fishing".
About weapon, visit AH quite frequently and see if you can change your weapon every 2-4 lvl to better. Don't have to buy the most expensive and best, but try to upgrade often.

Should I take holy if I do quests myself ?When will I level faster:
1.If I heal in groups or
2.if I do quests myself
soloing generally happens to be a faster leveling style, but depends on the availbility of the said group and composition.
sadly, most groups are hard to find and break up easily, so unless you have friends in the same level bracket as you, i would solo with ret or prot

I don't know if you have had other 'fast' characters to level since people keep telling me that I would have leveled faster as a retribution spec.
On occasion I waited until the quest was green if it was something a little harder and was able to solo it then.
This is the reason why people tell you to spec ret
they do nice fast killing, esp. with a good weapon (verigan's fist or shindorei blade) ret can easily rip through an elite mob, whereas prot are good at killing a lot at once
leveling ret from 9-30+ makes for easy quest completion, but once your have Seal of wisdom and light, prot paladins have an advantage due to surviability and self-renewal
