New helm+shield - Tough it out?

Among other things, I need a new helm and shield for my Holy gear. My helm is lacking a meta socket and my shield is level 174.
Should I drop 35 badges on the emblem of heroism shield, or should I tough it out?
Should I use a few titansteel on the crafted helm? I was thinking even the Wintergrasp helm would be nice, since the titansteel helm lacks any int.
Drops from heroic dungeons are basically out of the question. I have the worst luck ever. Seriously.

though I did forget to mention my helm was

and lacking a meta in my original post I made it very clear that my shield was 174.
edit 2: The rest of my gear is non-set pieces from naxx10+25. Mostly naxx25, with more weight put into crit than mp5

Seeing as you have BiS helm i'd say tough it out for a little while.
As for your shield having a shield with 174 spirit aint all that good so i'd say use the 35 badges for the emblem shield.
Otherwise you're good to go for OS+3D
P.S. A link to your armory or current helm/shield would be good.

Your post confuses me. My helm doesn't even have a meta, it's nowhere close to BiS. I really wouldn't want to attempt OS3D either.
Jut throwing it out there, but maybe you were reading multiple topics?

You're asking for advice on new gear but nobody here except yourself has a clue as to what gear you have atm.
The only information about your current gear you gave us was that your shield had an item level of 174 in other words it might as well be a shield with 174 spirit.
If you have BiS helmet you're not gonna switch it for another helmet just to get the meta unless it's an upgrade. Even though BiS often includes a meta but my point stands.
Show us an armory link or atleast tell us what shield/helm you have now so we actually can help you.

Except you aren't going to find a shield with 174 spirit. And You know BiS helm doesn't lack a meta.
Saying I have a 174 blue shield gives a pretty good estimation of the kind of stats it has.

I reccomend getting the argent dawn helm and the badge shield.
Thanks, I was unaware of the argent crusade helm as I tend to forget about equipment as rep rewards.

The emblem shield is very good it'll last you to naxx 25 when you can trade it for
Shield of Assimilation
or even KT25 for
Voice of Reason
As for a helm if you can wait until you get the AC rep helm go for it otherwise get a titansteel helm

As I said in my edit, I forgot to mention my helm was 187 and lacking a meta. That's my fault. You not being able to get a general idea of stats from "lvl 174" is your fault.
This isn't a thread about "I have this item. I need to upgrade it" it's "I have junky non-80 items, should I replace them ASAP or could I heal fine until something better drops?"
It might also do good to at least ASSUME paladins know not to rock .
Edit: I have edited my original post to give an idea of what the rest of my gear is. Should help immensely on determining if I -need- the new helm+shield

If you're weighing two options against each other, then that's different, and it's likely one choice is better than the other. If you're deciding between spending the badges or not... spend them. What good do they do you sitting in your... purse?
That said, if you don't tell people what items you're using, then no, you shouldn't expect any help. There's absolutely no reason, on a website with such an extensive database as Wowhead, that you can't provide a link to your specific shield.
Yeah, the servers are down atm, and so is the armory... but there's no reason not to search the shields on wowhead and trying to figure it out yourself. Think about when and where you got it, it can't be that hard.
The point is moot anyways, servers are down, you can't buy the shield and you can't get the help you need because of it. Just wait it out.

What I'm taking from this is that you're exceedingly lazy. Run heroics. Run raids. The gear will come. If you need an upgrade, upgrade it. If the emblem shield is better, buy it. You can farm gold from dailies (I am guessing your Sons of Hodir rep is very low given everything) or quests you didn't do while leveling.
Upgrades are upgrades. Coming to us with half a question is not going to get the type of response you want.

I thought you already had a whole lot of off-tier gear from Naxx 25, per your original post. And I also thought you had the worst luck ever with drops, etc, etc.
Of course these upgrades will help you in Naxx. That's what better gear does inherently. Will you replace all of it? Yes, eventually. Maybe your first week, maybe your tenth. The reason why you get them, instead of being lazy and using inferior gear, is to make sure you're doing your part in the raid.

I've gotten things and replaced them an hour later. Who care? I most likely only got the upgrade because of my upgrade I just purchased. Just do it. Emblems are too easy to come by, do VH every day.

Is it really going to help me -that- much though? I'm asking if I'll be able to perform well enough with these two junk items. As stated before I'm not going to drop time/currency on items that are barely going to help me.
I guess next time I'll skip the entire forum process and assume 2% more overheal isn't going to help me keep the tank up any better, and keep facerolling my way to epics.
