New Gear? Unmotivated.

I'm up to 4 80's now. Over the past couple months, I've been steadily gearing up the 3 I play most. The Tank, the Healer, and the DPS.
Now the latest batch of Items has been revealed. The level 251 and 264 gear.
So once 3.3 drops, most likely before the Holidays, the effort I've been putting in is pretty much wiped away, the gear I have now will be old and out of date, and those couple months will be pretty much wasted and for nothing, as that old gear will pretty much be retired.
Anyone else ever have a sense of "What's the point of all this again?"

Yes, it was fun. Good point, good point.

Perhaps "waste" is the wrong word.
Just bothered that after all the effort put into gearing, and still trying to get the last of the 245 Crusade Trophy's I have used, only to have 'latest hottest bestest' gear drop, feels kind of irritating.
Hard to describe properly. It's early in the day.

Having a higher quality of gear now makes it easier for you to jump into new content.

Yes, change is good. Though with this new gear I've thrown together, a breather to enjoy it would be nice.
Of course, the server I'm stuck on has a bit to do with it also I guess. Pretty stunted, and uneventful. Progress isn't really pushed on sadly.

Not a waste since you need to have good gear to be able to get the new and improved gear...
When I feel like that is when a new patch is being released since level 70 gear = pointless for level 80 ofc

Psssst...wth is BiS?
best in slot. it means that a pice of gear is the best piece you can have at any given time in any slot although it will vary between classes.

"The time wasn't wasted if you had fun wasting it."
'nuff said.
Also, I feel the same as the above poster. in 3.0 I got my Priest to 80, and by the time he was in all 213's and stuff, I had gotten a Shaman to 80 as well, and basically stopped after a few Heroics, because of the thought of "Omg, now I have to gear this guy too?"
Though, getting geared for endgame content isn't as hard, and I've got a Paladin at 79, just waiting to hit 80 and start tanking =) Already got a bunch of BoE's and some ToC gear waiting for his final ding.

It does seem to stand out more how mechanical patches are getting. The sets seem to just be photocopying the stats of t9 and updating them to ilevel 251 / 264. Nothing new, no 6 stat sets, no new gem slots, same old socket bonuses, for rogues the agility is = the stamina on every piece, that really irks me.
The variety of stats and gear choices from BWL or AQ40 or even BT seem long gone. There was 1 item for each slot in ToGC so its like you get a set even if it doesnt give set bonuses.

What will happen in most places, is after the patch, a few people will get the achievements and a few pieces of the new gear, then a week later, will be in Trade chat
"LFM blah blah must have achi and latest gear!"
When you say
"I'll go"
, they'll gear check you, shout:
"OMFGROFL get sum gd gear nub, only lvl 245 hahahahaha! L2P looser!".
That's when the hand will slowly come to your face, and you will wish for the power of psychic death projections / mind bullets / on-call nuclear strikes.
You'll get a group eventually though, PuG or Guild, and gear up, but the really soul destroying part comes when you take off that old gear you sweated for, for so very long, put on the shiny new thing, and then face the choice of deleting the old bit, or storing it for an eternity in the bank, because A) you can't sell the damn piece, at all, B) You can't DE it, and C) It no longer has any function whatsoever, and never will.
I still have old AQ, ZG, and TBC pieces, just sitting, because you literally can't do anything with them, but it's unbearable to throw them out.
Still, I like new gear, I think everyone does, you (the OP) will get the gear fever back when your first piece drops.

Are you new to WoW? This is just how the game works and progresses. If you don't like it, then don't raid, just enjoy the other aspects of the same.
Yes, completely new. Just opened the box last night.
Way to completely miss the entire point of the thread, Dolt.

Just a side note to your poin there Zanny. Notice how it's no longer T8, T9, etc? It's ilevel 251, ilevel 264. Kind of disheartening to see how eventually a trend will emerge where it's "Only ilevel 251+ for invite". So if you're cloak is still 245 you're SoL? Blah.

You're probably right. Still have my Benediction I wear when not in a Raid or Daily.
