You could always use an assist macro to always assist the tank or put focus on the tank and use "F" to assist the target. A lot of times the tank will mark the mobs in the order in which they should be killed but if your group is over geared they may just steamroll through.

Here's my question for all of you: How do you target mobs quickly (and switch between them) and in what order does that occur inside a 5 man dungeon or heroic dungeon? It's not something a healer has to worry about so I really have no idea how dps does it smoothly. I'd assume you pick the mob that tank is focusing on first. I've found it's a pain in the ass to try to click between a group of 5+ mobs individually.
Do you click your spells? If you do.. don't. Keybind everything (and
not 1-9
, real keybinds. q e r f c x z 1 2 3 4. If you use q and e, which is a very good idea, reassign a and d for strafing). Use macros to have 1 key do 2 things via modifier keys (all of the listed keys are easy to hit while holding Shift). That frees your mouse for nothing but turning, looking and targetting. Show nameplates where applicable. Have some way of assisting the tank (keybind or nice big Unitframe click). Also, target the next mob mid cast when you can.

well I think tab needs some work. I don't know how many times I have hit tab and didn't have a target or was on the target I started with. ONLY hitting tab 2 times gets me to the next target.
WHY?
