Actually it's called Microsoft Word, since the former is a proper noun identify a company while the latter is a proper known identifying the product.
Your point was?

This is a great phallacy. I'm fairly sure i fall under the bracket of "hardcore raider". Ok, no Alagon kills yet though(but that's elite, not hardcore). When Ulduar was released, i spend 6 nights a week there for 3 weeks. You get the idea.
You're right, actually. I fell prey to the same sort of generalization that gets thrown around at "casuals" as well.
All this "Hardcore players are butthurt that instances are accessible" is total rubbish
The problem is that there are people labeling themselves as "hardcore" who
are
butthurt that instances are accessible to everyone. A quick search would probably reveal 3-5 posts within the first 3 pages here on Wowhead.
Your description of yourself is the excellent kind of hardcore raider - the one who really
does
do it for the challenge. Unfortunately, the more vocal ones seem to be in it for the gear so that their snowflakes are more unique. I applaud you for being one of the good ones who pushes raiding for the right reason - to say that you've done something.
And maybe that's a better definition of "hardcore" - you recognize that it's not the gear that makes you unique, it's the fact that you contributed to facing an incredibly difficult challenge and overcoming it.
My point is that you have a weird icon.
Yeah, it isn't cool-looking, but at the time it wasn't in use by anyone else. ;)

No, i don't want 40 mans back. I was there. I was raid leading and organizing rosters. There was nothing more epic to it than today, appart from your memories of it.
Skill vs gear : hahaha is about all i have to say, at least regarding the first 2 tiers which i experienced first hand. Getting skilled 315 FR capped tanks and skilled NR tanks and then skilled FR tanks certainly didn't have any reliance on gear did it ? All the afk people during raids surely were skilled on not carried through thanks to all the others.
Now i didn't dislike it at the time. It was already raiding with it's fun parts and less fun parts and i enjoyed it a lot. The feelings we have when downing the first end-bosses or got our first epics were indeed something we won't ever feel again in this game. But that's more due to us changing our perpective and getting used to kill end-bosses and getting loot more than it has anything with them being more epic than what we get now.
After raiding for 5 years, how could you feel the same feeling than on your first raid ? That's human and it's normal, but don't try to twist it in those raids being so much better than currently, because that's blatantly false.
