Its a fine guide. If its going to be a sticky, i vote for links on all gemms and enchants.
Also, titanium shield spike might be worth mentioning in the shield enchant section. Even if people don't use it much.

-Reckoning - "Gives you a 2/4/6/8/10% chance after being hit by any enemy damaging attack that the next 4 weapon swings within 8 seconds will generate an extra attack."
Basically, each time you take damage you get a chance to do double white, and double seal damage on your next 4 swings. It is purely a Threat per Second (TPS) talent (offering no mitigation/avoidance whatsoever) - unfortunately it doesn't measure up to talents found deeper down in the ret tree that will help your threat
Just a minor thing, might want to mention
why
it's bad tps (being physical dmg and not holy).
Sacred Shields no longer stack so you should let a Holy Pally keep theirs up on you since theirs will typically absorb more damage than yours will even when it's talented)
It did as of 3.1.1 ... did I completely miss the nerf?
Dodge - Dodge helps you dodge incoming attacks (not spells) so that you take 0 damage. Go figure. Dodge suffers from Diminishing Returns (DR) - meaning that the higher you stack your dodge rating, the less effective it becomes. Don't worry too much over this though - you have to stack it close to 30% for it to start effecting you hard enough for it to matter.
Parry - Parry, like dodge, lets you fully avoid an incoming attack. Also like dodge, parry suffers from DR, but at a much higher rate than dodge. If at all possible, avoid parry like the plague unless your dodge starts getting hit by DR too hard.
Keeping parry 5% behind dodge is what is usually advised, I dont know if that's worth mentioning (there is a really nice macro in one of the threads below me for this, i'll look it up later).
Defense (to cap) > Stamina > Dodge/Parry > Strength > Expertise/Hit > Shield Block Value > Shield Block Rating
strength and exp/hit should be switched. completely missing high threat attacks is worse than hitting slightly less hard.
-Don't gem for Expertise or Hit rating unless you are having serious TPS problems and you aren't Exp/Hit capped yet. Avoidance/Stamina is always better than extra TPS if you're not having problems with it.
Again, I don't think tps is the core issue hit and expertise. It's missing key abilities when you need to use them (pulling a caster with AS and having it miss and not silence them, etc.).
And lastly on 969 rotation. There was a really nice chart in a thread I saw a couple weeks ago that showed it really nicely. 12345-21-432-54 is there general pattern if you do it like I do. I'll try to find tha thread sometime.
PS here's the dodge/parry macro:
/run ChatFrame1:AddMessage(format("If result is over 1.88, gem parry, if it's below, gem dodge. RESULT = %.2f",(GetDodgeChance()-10)/(GetParryChance()-10)))
PPS Here's the 969 thread I really liked

, might be able to incorporate a few things from it into yours.

It still does, to the best of my knowledge. I could be wrong too though.

Not true, as far as threat is concerned. Completely missing high threat attacks is ok, provided that the 90% of attacks that do hit are much higher damage. Consider that you can get 282 Hit Rating for an improvement in damage/threat by 8%, or you can get a 282 increase in Strength for an improvement improvement in damage/threat (being around 225DPS with no hit). At some high DPS point (~2800dps single target), Expertise/Hit will outdo Strength on a DPS/TPS basis, but I believe you'd need around 2000 Strength to get there.
I believe that the only reason you should be spec'ing for Hit is if you have concerns about hitting with your taunts. That's pretty much the only reason.

See above point. Str is for TPS. Hit is for taunts, stuns and silences. Expertise is if you're happy with the risk of taunts missing, eg, tank-and-spank boss.

3.2 is when the Sacred Shields stopped stacking.

Titanium Weapon Chain - 28 hit rating and 50% reduction to disarm effects. Hit is significant, and the disarm is useful occasionally, but not often enough to make it a must have enchant. It is primarily a PvP enhancement, although if you're struggling with threat, can be useful.
very nice guide but in my opinion the above is wasted if you have the 2 points in Pursuit of Justice. Maybe worth adding something so that people know this.
Maybe I'm noobish, but isn't
Titanium Plating
a nice shield enchant for a Paladin? Might be worth adding.
well the problem being is that i just pointed out above, if you have the Pursuit of Justice talent then it no point using Titanium Plating, but otherwise i suppose it's a relatively nice enchant if you are stacking shield block for say ToC 10/25.
