Need a mage spec

I am looking into respec'n my mage. I want the most crit chance I can get and the most dmg increase I can get with fire. I am not a raider, the only groups I am in are for instances and PvP. This my gear and spec

I've done arc/fire, deep fire and deep arc. Deep fire is by far the best damage when well geared (+850 or so dmg) and raiding. If you want max crit, you'll have to grab critical mass and arcane instability is one the best talents as well.
For heroics,
Slow
is the best ability for heroics by far. Allows you to kite heroic mobs and can save your life or the life of a healer. It's also useful in Kara for trash. Overaggroing is not a problem anymore.
Slow is also incredible for PVP since it cripples casters, warriors and hunters (doubles cast times and ranged attacked speeds on top of the 50% speed reduction). And for most of those who might comment on Slow, they probably never had it or only had for a day. For raiding no doubt, its mostly useless but it gives you an added dimension above dps machine outside raids.

A deep arcane spec geared properly can do remarkable numbers. Trying something like 49/12/0 or the like can both be good for raiding, heroics/dungeons, and battlegrounds alike. The only place the build really suffers is arena, where Frost truly is the king of the battlefield imho.
Honestly though, one thing I love about arcane is a) the crits are bigger (yes, even than fire... sorry guys. And ignite doesn't make up for it... ignite is 40% increase, arcane increases all crits by 50%, and it's an instant effect), b) It's far easier to gear, you don't need to worry about spell hit near as much, and can focus on simply +crit +dmg, and c) It's VERY utility friendly, -40% threat, silence on CS, slow, and completely un-interuptable arcane missiles make for a very "every situation friendly" build.

Ignite is actually 60%. It takes 40% of your total crit damage which is 150% and applies it as a DOT over 4 seconds (40% * 150% = 60%) for a total of 210% as opposed to the talent 'Spell Power' which actually only increases the 'critical strike bonus' by 50%. Your critical strike bonus is t 50%, so it increases it by 50% to 75% for a total of 175%. The problem with fire, especially in 5-10mans, is you're typically threat-capped so you *can* do more damage but you'll pull aggro and die a lot of the time. The arcane threat reduction is great for those situations.
Your other points are valid. Frost is king in pvp, no doubt.

Ahh fair enough, forgot about the 150% on the base of the crit. Darn me and my posting while half awake.
