So I thought I'd start this thread for interests sake and the fun that I've been having with NG over the first 40 levels of my druid career :P
Basically, I'm a 1/31/0 build atm, PvE, do mostly soloing and duoing with a Shaman friend. In these stages of leveling, I found some very enjoyable uses of NG. FYI, my build =
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=0zZxhGssdoxzJust to be clear, NG can be used in caster, bear, and cat form, which took me a while to figure out. It costs 0 energy, 0 rage, and 0 mp, much like FF(F). It cannot be used in Travel form or Aquatic form. It cannot be used inside, which is it's biggest downfall.
1. NG is great for early levels (ie 10-20) when you only have caster/bear forms. NG > back away and heal/change form and heal or run away :P
2. Additionally, if you are solo-tanking as a bear, there is no reason to not cast NG while in bear form and let the Entangling roots do some added damage to an enemy.
3. With only 1 point in NG, you can cast it at about 1/3 the health of an enemy mob that'll turn into a runner once you get them closer to death. With only one point, it's more or less random to get this timed correctly. With 5 pts in it, it would be much easier.
4. It's fantastic for when traveling in cat form at 20+. You get aggroed while running to a new fp, getting to a quest objective, etc, you cast NG while in cat form and while still running, and just keep running until NG procs. Fantastic for traveling.
All this to say that if you are an early level druid, you might try taking advantage of NG. It's pretty fun, and plus, the pulsing entangling roots are really cool looking.... try it while fighting suspended underwater sometime for some really cool looking effects :P
If you have any other strategies for NG, post them here!
ps- I realize that this talent is contraversial... remember, I'm not talking about high level raiding or dungeons here so try to reserve those comments :P
