After the change to HfB (i.e. needing a bleed on the target), I'm a little undecided/confused on the best way to open in PVE.
Charge in, SnD, Rupture, HfB?
Charge in, Rupture, HfB, SnD?
Stealth in, Garrotte, HfB, SnD, Rupture?
Mutilating in between for combo points, obviously.
What do you find the best opening these days?

Garrote > HFB/SnD > Try get rupture up if it's a boss, if it's trash stop there and Mut > Envenom to put your SnD to full duration.
If its a boss once SnD is activated try get a 4/5 CP rupture running, then you'll probs need to Evenom to get your SnD refreshed. If you don't have time to do that, just mutilate into an envenom then try get rupture up.
Make sense?

It does! Thank you. I think the root of my indecision was about the importance of SnD vs. HfB (i.e. do we get a bleed up ASAP to HfB quicker, or do we prioritise SnD before landing Rupture allowing HfB).
I've always been wary about opening with Garrote due to the time it can take to get into position on certain encounters (now that I think about it, why aren't I stealth-sprinting in?), but I'll give it a solid go!

Rupture need to be up asap. My start rotation goes
Garrote>HfB>S&D>Mutilate to 4-5 CP's>CB Rupture>Mutilate 3-5 CP's>Envenom depending on S&D time.
Now the reason I will do a 3 CP Envenom if time is ticking low is I have yet to find a time where I don't get another 4-5 Envenom in before i have to reapply rupture and overkill runs out.

Pickpocket
If you pickpocket a lot you would already have that macro'd to your opening ability.

If there is a feral druid/warrior in the raid applying quick bleeds u can wait out a few GCDs and apply HfB while stealthed, its a good idea considering its gonna increase your garrote dmg as well by 18% if you are glyphed properly. The ability doesn't break stealth, so no worries there.

hmm....getting HFB up might make up for the several thousand dps lost by waiting....then again, maybe not.
Any math wiz wanna run some numbers real quick?

Several thousand damage doesn't equal several thousand dps. Reading comprehension ftw.

its 2 seconds... not only that there are times when feral druids do their pounce up and get bleeds off while you are walking in stealth... I mean if you have the time and opportunity to start hunger for blood b4 you can attack do it. +18% is +18%.

The thing is, you should be starting dps at t=0, perhaps even moments before the pull. Tricks of the trade ensure that you don't overaggro and provides some healthy threat for the tank to work with in the beginning of the fight. Waiting for a bleed effect only reduces your damage. The extra damage you do with garrote won't make up for the lost damage while you idled.
