Everyone has different priorities. I personally wouldn't call it ninja'ing but would be willing to bet that if you had sold it for massive amounts of gold the person who you sold it to would be calling you a ninja/@#$%^. My viewpoint on dungeon loot is you win it fair and square and it's up to you to decide what to do with it.

If I lost an item that I wanted to another person in the raid, sure I'd offer them stuff. It depends on the person, I would think I would know my own guildies well enough to know who might sell something to me or not. However, I play a tank and we're pretty cool with tank gear, it seems that DPS classes are the real loot hogs =). If they wanted to sell it to me, I win. Gold is easy to get, for me. Some people place a higher priority on gold than others.
Moral of the story: if you won the item and people want it, and you don't care about gold, tell them it's not for sale. If a guildy offers you a ton of gold and really wants it, and you need money and don't really care about the item you just got then hey, think about it - it's your call.
If you lost an item and dude sells it to you, great, you got the item. It's just loot.

You win an Ilv 245 and wanne sell it?
WoW...just...wow...
thats what? 192DPS? And you wanne sell that? for somthing as easy to get as gold?
No #$%^ing way I would do that.
Selling it after you rolled for it is ofcourse 100% ninja and a welcome on my ignorelist+a little /puke for how little you care about your gear and how lazy you are to get gold together.
offtopic: If you refuse people an upgrade because they won another piece for whatever reason your a %^&*.

1. People offered to buy it. He never wanted to sell it. Please read more carefully.
2. He never sold it. He kept it. Again, please read more carefully.
3. He made a comment on the forums based on the incident. He asked a question
about something he was unsure of
. There was absolutely no reason to flame him.
Offtopic: If you throw a hissy fit because you weren't given an upgrade because of loot rules, you're a loot ^&*!@.
Addressing the OP: In my opinion, it wouldn't have been fair to sell it. HOWEVER, you won it, thus it is yours to do what you please. If that involves selling it for a large sum of money, which was offered after the rolls were finished, I don't care, because it's your item now. Also, IIRC, that dagger is BiS or close to BiS for casters.

By the looks of it, and by reading most comments here, the final conclusion is something like:
Auctioning the items you won through a
need
roll is slightly disrespectful/unfair for other raid members.
HOWEVER
, the item won is property of it's owner. He decides what he does with it. Should he sell it, if you agree or not with his idea of fair is to be kept for
YOU
. After all, who says the winner will make full profit of the item even if he keeps it? There's no guarantee in any of the sides. Guilds should establish their own loot priorities and it should go well. PuG rules are dictated by the raid leader, and should he state no rules, you're allowed to do what you wish.

Thank you all for your oppinions.
Just to clarify some, I DIDNT sell it and nor did i try to have a auction. I roll on a item i needed as a upgrade (Blade of Tarasque) and most of the casters in the group started whispering me. This was a pug and not a guild run, had there been a guildrun the "rules" around this would have been different.
The reason i asked this is to debate around the posibility of the new "same ID tradeing bop items thing"
And for me 5k gold is 5k gold, its ALOT, specialy for me who is a "alt aholic"
Didnt rly wanna discuss this within the group so therefor i posted it here.

Well, there are already groups of people who are willing to pay in advance to get an item if it drops. Those have been around for almost as long as raiding was. This doesn't seem to be a whole lot of difference.
That being said, I doubt any PUGs will notice that you didn't equip it. It probably wouldn't be a big deal if you do a lot of PUGs with random people. However, if you're in a guild, I definitely recommend against it. I know that my guild uses loot council so that everyone gets items in a way that best benefits the entire raid. So trading items with other people is a bad idea in a guild situation.
As a moral thing, I say do whatever you want as long as it doesn't have a negative effect for me.
