Mini map not working properly on 90% of toons

my mini map is not working properly on 90% of toons. its showing the glass of milk and bread roll icon for most things (be that herbs or people) sometimes it will be a large gold dot. maybe 3 out of 40 toons are working correctly. i have add-ons running but i have turned them off completely with no effect to the mini map troubles.
any ideas?

Was it exactly 90% of toons? If it's 94% it might be a different issue, but I would recommend removing the add-on folders, and resetting the UI, also doing a repair on the game files. This is being caused by an add-on.
Also, if you have completely turned off the add-ons then it's not possible for them to be running. If they're running, you need to recheck that they've been turned off.

wreez...i dont know where to start with a reply to your help...so i'll just say thank you, that didnt help and you dont seem to have grasped my question nor what i have tried.
