Mind flay glitch?

So blizzard suggested I post this in the official wow forums, but I trust you guys 75 times more than anyone over there that isn't a blue. (and some of you, more than them too).
So, my priest is level 26. I'm levelling him as shadow because it works better for me with the BOA gear I have. Here's my problem, i've run into a situation rather frequently that has caused me a lot of problems.
Rank 1 Mind flay will "bug out" on me. It'll happen each time after I get a 'miss' on the first strike of MF (which keeps the rest of it from channelling). Every time I try to cast MF after that it won't do anything. No miss, dodge, resist, evade, immune... I just waste the mana involved with it. Even my combat log shows me casting MF and it fading, but it doesn't cause any damage to the target, and he does nothing else.
I've got a screenshot of a widened view of my combat log so anyone can inspect it and see if they notice something i'm missing.

If any of you guys can help me out, i'd really appreciate it. I filed a ticket with blizzard and they basically said "Thanks for filing, now go to the forums."

This glitch is being fixed in 3.3, I think.

This sounds similar to another bug with Mind Flay where the target becomes "invalid" after missing the target. A few players have seen that one happen as well. I don't have an answer as to whether or not this has been fixed or will be fixed.
I bet Blizzard told you to uninstall all of your 3rd party mods, reset all of your settings, then asked you to play on naked interface. Certainly, this may be a part of it as well, none of us are wise enough to know. Regardless, I've only ever had it happen to me once, but it happened to be during a 10 Heroic Anub'rak fight... perfect timing at Phase 3 too!

A similar thing happened to me a few minutes ago in ToC5: After DoTing up the other 2 mobs and switching back to the primary target, it said 'Your target is dead' in red letters when I was trying to cast MF. I could not cast it on him at all during that fight.

That thing you see missing is the snare component of Mind Flay. Without the snare component applied, the rest of the spell has nothing off of which to channel its damage, because there's no beam. You only get one chance to apply the beam; the snare; and that's at the beginning of the channel.
take a look at the screenshot i linked in the OP. the problem is that the mob is not dodgeing, evading, immuning, or resisting the spell and i am not missing, and yet i am triggering a GCD and the mana is still being spent. in fact, if you read the combat log, it looks like the ONLY thing the mob is being affected by is the snare component of mindflay.
from the combat log:
Dunnix casts Mind Flay at Mottled Screecher.
Mottled Screecher is affected by Dunnix's Mind Flay.
Dunnix's Mind Flay dissipates from Mottled Screecher.
Dunnix's Mind Flay failed (Not yet recovered).
Dunnix's Mind Flay is refreshed on Dunnix.
Dunnix casts Mind Flay at Mottled Screecher.
Mottled Screecher is affected by Dunnix's Mind Flay.
Dunnix's Mind Flay dissipates from Mottled Screecher.
rinse lather repeat. the one that failed was because I hit the button before the GCD was up.
IF the spell was missing the mob some way or another, it would say
Mottled Screecher is Immune to Dunnix's Mind Flay.
Mottled Screecher fully resists Dunnix's Mind Flay.
Dunnix's Mind Flay misses Mottled Screecher.
you get the idea.

I call a UI issue.
Update your addons/delete the Interface, WTF and Cache folders.

Hm. Then it does sound like a strange bug. Talk to a GM, I guess?
Do a UI reset first.
When I was using nUI, after zoning into instances, it would randomly prevent me targetting anything but myself (but would appear to have things targetted)
Its also a horrifically inefficient drain on resourses.
