Here it is:
Minimum to heal heroics.
All the items are easily and cheaply crafted/quested for. (no epics... read - cheap)
All the enchants are the cheap ones.
The head/shoulder enchants are the pvp ones. (easily gotten)
Any gems are blue quality.
The talent tree is of the ret-subspec to help offset the low crit from the starter gear.
With all of this your final result is the following
Stats:
1356 spell power
28.84 crit (20.84 without talents)
135 mp/5
68 haste
15394 mana
As long as your stats are similar to this... you should be fine for heroics.
with the exception of HToC.
With a very good group you may be able to do it... but I would wait for some upgrades before attempting that one.

that's pretty much exactly what i had in
My Guide
lol Cool to see its so easily attained by just crafted blues. If i hear anyone whining about my stats being to high in my guide i will link this, thanks.
Nice guide.
Its gonna take me a bit to read through all of that..

Using that as a formula.. (searching for ilvl 165-200 blues available via quests/crafting) I have also created a Ret pally min for heroics.
Ret chick
Stats:
2232 ap
25% crit
109 haste
160 hit
There are 2
other
weapons
That are better and drop in normal instances.... But seeing as you may/may not have luck with instance drops... ill keep the de-raged waraxe as the one for the min.
Edit: The hit cap for melee dps (2h weaps) is 197.
for heroics
(edit 2)
you could swap out a trinket for
this
but honestly that extra little bit of hit isn't necessary to start heroics.

Why wouldn't you use
Discarded Titanium Legplates
and
Sparkly Shiny Gloves
? I think they are superior to the crafted stuff, and very very easy to get.
EDIT - And
Mendicant's Charm
is better than the MP5 trinket you listed imho. When you start gearing, the first and foremost thing you need is more spell power so that your heals actually hit with some force.
EDIT2 - Totally forgot about
Gavel of the Brewing Storm
. This one is a no-brainer.
I specifically avoided any reputation gear....
Any of these
trinkets
could be used.

If you ask me as a tank, i'm fine with at least 1400 healing power (not spell power) considering healer has brain and proper gear/spec.
1800 is obtainable from crafted epics. I didn't said "easily", but it wasn't hard for me.
That's for "normal" heroics, not ToC HC.

Why? Rep gear is very easy to get. None of the ones I listed required Exalted, so it's not like you have to grind for one month to get them or anything. Regular questing + a few dailies will get you to Revered.
Also, I would just recommend that focusing on spell power is very important if you are just starting to heal heroics. MP5 is more useful for longer fights. Heroic fights are not long, so MP5 will be of less value. That is why I'd recommend Mendicant's Charm over any MP5 or Crit trinkets (i.e. all the other trinkets you listed). Also, I would not list drops since they are "chance".
Also because it isn't necessary.
This is heroic starter gear.
Not raiding starter gear.
Edit:
Remember this is a
MIN
starter gearset. Any pieces that are similar to the ones listed (including the +sp trinket you mentioned) will work.

Gotcha. It's a "don't get anything worse than this" gearset. I guess I'm not sure why you would put this together when there is very easily obtainable better gear out there.
Personally, I would never advise any new Paladins to review the set since they can get better gear for equal amounts of ease. It's a shame if this gets linked to pezz's Holy Guide becuase people will shoot for this gear to start heroics (instead of shooting for better gear).
The idea is so that a lead can use this as a benchmark to see if the healer/tank/dps can handle the run.
I put it together because i have been noticing a lot of "am I ready for heroics yet" threads.
and i would even say that you may get away with worse gear.
It wouldn't be a fast badge run like we are accustomed to nowadays... but it IS doable... (and that is the point....)
By no means is this an optimal build/gearset.... but i believe it is enough to do the job.
Oddly enough... this is also the good starter pvp set... hehehe

Using that as a formula.. (searching for ilvl 165-200 blues available via quests/crafting) I have also created a Ret pally min for heroics.
Ret pally minimum for heroics = be level 80
Ret pally recomendation for heroics = be level 80
If it was possible ret pallys could start running heroics at level 78.

I know that it is possible.
Im trying to put a list together that works assuming everyone is equally geared. (ie... no-one to carry the group)
Is this necessary... no. you will probably always be able to find a group that has better geared folks to carry ya....
It is still nice.
(sure beats the 100% flame posts of late)
