Meh or yeh: smithing?

Heading into 2.3, I'm leveling up a warrior alt. Knowing that the epic, crafted blacksmithing weapons are pretty nice, does anyone say blacksmithing is worth to level on a warrior? I was looking just at the top-end dmg of s1 and s2 arena weps, and I have to say, the dmg was easily comparable.
So, is blacksmithing really worth leveling for a warrior? Does it help enough 1-70 to make a difference, or are we just looking at top-tier two-handers?
I think I should add that although I'm not too hardcore of a player, I do like to put in a lot of my time with my characters, i.e. running plenty of heroics, farming mats, long rep grinds, etc. So the casual vs. hardcore factor is not really an issue here.
More, my question is aimed at a min-max vs. efficiency point of view. I.E. I can spend a good chunk of time farming for a crafted epic 2h, or I could spend some time grinding AP or running Kara (or w/e else for my appropriate gear lvl).
Tenks!

Under normal circumstances you will find little to no practical use from Blacksmithing during your leveling. By the time you can make some decent armor you would be allready 6-7levels above it's level requirement and then you can just find a better peace of armor in an instance or as a quest reward. The only way would be to level your BS above your level which would mean wasting alot of time gathering veins in higher level zones (not to mention countless corpse runs) which in the end still doesn't pay off. Also the BS weapons can be replaced by Arena weapons (which by the way require alot less time to get then you would waste on leveling BS and gathering the mats) Imho go Engineering (or something else)

I've always found my BS to be a good idea, as I've never had to farm mats, never had to sink money into it (maybe it's just me, but I made money selling the stuff I made for skill) and I can almost always use the armor I make. The lower level weapons are generally garbage unless you get rare plans, but later on it does pick up. The only slow patch I've hit so far has been the gap from about 180 to 230, where you need tons and tons of iron and mithril, but it still beats the pants off farming greens for enchanting.
As far as Arena gear (or any PvP gear) goes, I've never been a fan of PvP and while the gear is very good, I can't stand going through pug BGs 30-60 times for one (1) piece of gear, never mind going all the way to 70 and THEN spending months in arenas to amass points. If you like PvP, by all means, take into consideration that PvP gear will be better, but if you mostly PvE like me, I recomend BS. Instance gear is usually as good or better too, but you have to go over and over for the really good stuff and even then it's usually not a full set, but a piece or two.
You could always mine and herb for money and buy similar or even better gear, but if you make it yourself, there's no needing to go to the AH every two or four levels to check for better gear.
