Match Making Question

First off I'd like to state exactly what type of team I'm working with. Me and my buddy are both rogues. He's in full deadly with a few furious peices. I mix my furious with 1 or 2 deadly and some PvE off-peices. We're both Mutilate/Envenom plate killer build, since basically all we see in Arenas are DK's and paladins. (Not angry or QQing about that...they actually die pretty fast).
So here's the situation: 2v2, Both Rogues. We're not expecting a win at any point. We're mainly doing it for the points. So we create our team last night, decide to do a few games. We're on Vent, so we can coordinate our moves and cooldowns. Our first fight was pretty short. Shaman/Hunter. We both popped cold blood, double ambushed, mutilate, envenom, and the shaman was down. Finished the hunter shortly after. We were pretty pumped and feeling great.
18 matches later, we lose our first fight. So now we're 19 and 1. We never thought this would happen. We're up to a 705 Team Rating and my buddy is really close to getting his Furious gloves, so he's psyched. Our Match Making Rating was at ~800, and we had been getting massive points up until this point. We went against dual Ret Paladins in our 21st match and we lost horribly. We only lost about 4 team rating. But at the end of the match...I noticed our MM rating was ~800, but the paladins were at ~1200. Is that normal? Did they go up to 1200 after beating us, or were they already 1200? Our next few matches we were going against 1k+ people as well. Is 800 the wall that we have to climb to make it to the next stage?
Just curious. Didn't expect our 2v2 Rogue team to actually do anything productive, so if this is our wall, then I'm happy with that lol.

Ahh, that explains it then. Are arena matches chosen from the battlegroup? Or is it a bit wider? I haven't seen a very large array of teams. Usually the same guys, just different nights. Guess they hit that 800 barrier too.

Well, our guild fell through on our current server, so we transferred to a completely new realm and went Horde. And judging by what I'm seeing, it's not the same battlegroup. So that answers my previous question of who we actually fight against.
We weren't so lucky this time. We didn't faceroll up to ~800 MMR. As a matter of fact, our first 10 games last night were 4 wins 6 losses. And each team we lost against had a warrior. It seems at the beginning we were playing against teams that have been around a while. These guys were geared (Which means nothing. Anyone can farm VoA10/25 for the gear to do arenas). We had a harder time, which made us re-think our strategy.
In short: Yeah...sap is pretty useful. We've learned to coordinate a bit more and things are going smoother. But I did have to burn 50k Honor on a trinket. Forgot I wasn't a human anymore :p

My mate and I played some 2v2 skirmishes last night as double ele shamans and wtfpwned everyone. Dunno whether we would have done so good at rated.

I can't seem to break 1420. But as far as I know if you keep getting a 1/1 win/loss ratio each day, you'll keep going up. You don't lose as many points loosing than getting points winning. I fear this is not the same for 1500+
I believe ( i may be missinformed though) 1500 rating is the point where you get the same for winning as you do for losing so, alas, your days of progressing with a 1/1 win to loss ratio are over ^_^
