im asking here if it's possible to have a macro that casts TotT on focus if i have it, otherwise it can be casted the normal way (targetting manually someone)
also, can it be if focus is not dead, otherwise normal way?
now im using this:
/cast Tricks of the Trade

/use

/use
Careful here... This will cast tricks on a friendly target if you don't have a focus and have them targeted. Use instead of [] to force the cursor.

@Wanderingfox: Didn't seem like that's what he asked for.
@Wildhorn: I quite doubt it's coded that way.

none is a valid unit id. God, didn't I just have this conversation with pelf?
Oh wait, I did.
See here:

Unitid's are evaluated before the player name check, or at least last time I checked they were anyway, so it should always take none to be 'no target'
@Wanderingfox: Didn't seem like that's what he asked for.
@Wildhorn: I quite doubt it's coded that way.
It will also tell him "invalid target" if he has a hostile targeted and no focus. will let him cast tricks while targeting a hostile by allowing him to select the target manually.

Hehe. I think he was making a jibe at order of evaluation, to which HF alluded.

thanks a lot i'll try it right now, and post results.
EDIT: works great, thanks for the help. i must learn how to do macros myself lol

You could try this:
#showtooltip
/cast
This will first check your focus, and then the target of your target (in case your focus is dead, or not help-able) and if it doesn't find a helpable target in either of those places, it will give you the cursor.
A shame you can't Tricks yourself, just for the damage boost...heh. Only problem would be if your focus is dead, and your target is targetting YOU (You are technically a help-able target, but Tricks doesn't work on you.)

I mean, @ replace "target=", so you can do @wildhorn, @playername, wtc. So if a player is named None, @none would try to target him, no? or unitid none have priority over player names?
And it was a joke reply btw... /smile some, life is beautilful! :P
I just finished all my exams, im happy

The consensus of at least two people here seems to be that UnitId redirection takes priority over player names and does not fall through. Since
none
is a valid UnitId, if it hits that, it won't even try the player name.
I'd guess that UnitIds are actually valid player names anyway.

i wasn't implying that exact macro be used, just that if he wanted to get the cursor he'd have to use rather than Tricks of the Trade
the $tricks is replaced out-of-combat by another macro, and acts as my @focus]
