fury is better for tanking than arms. It doesn't matter that much about spec until you get to brd and higher. when you get to outlands spec will help too. Just get a good shield, and if you can get some gear with stamina it would also help.

I just got to Blackrock Depths as a Lvl59 Fury and only had a hard time on that one because the healer kept going offense at the wrong times.
As long as I'm in defensive stance using thunderclap, cleave and sweeping strikes vs groups and sunder armor and revenge vs singles (with my finger on the taunt hotkey just in case) I don't have any problems, even without a shield to bash spellcasters.

Back before TBC. I used to DW tank UBRS trash and only threw a shield on during bosses.
Fury can MT any non-raid instance just fine. Yes, even heroics.

You do not need to switch specs at your level to tank dungeons. In fact, when you hit level 40 & get your instant ability (in your case Bloodthirst), you will automatically see your tanking ability scale up somewhat. Putting 3 into Protection for Tactical Mastery will really beef this up incredibly well also.
You may find more help related to tanking in Yakra's thread, stickied at the top of the forums. For more info. concerning Fury/Prot talents you may wish to read some from this thread:

As far as Sandkat's claims that a Fury warrior can tank heroics, I have to put my foot down here. Sure, with the latest rounds of changes over the past months it is possible; but it is unrealistic to suggest such concepts to a level 39, but I digress.
I would like to ask that our fellow warriors please try to refrain from making ambiguous claims, true or not, about what is or is not possible
without explanation
.
The last thing we need are more ill-conceived statements made towards inexperienced warriors with little to no foundation for their claims. Comments such as these
are often made with extreme lack of detail
which leads to confusion & the spreading of rumors that counteract our efforts to inform less experienced players of the many options & philosophies associated with different playstyles.
Nevermind the fact these claims are apt to being
off topic
pertaining to the original post. With that in mind, try to answer the posters' questions with not only an answer, but supporting details & advice
pertaining to their situation
.
That said, I think we have covered the topic of tanking for level ~39 warriors in detail.

Im confused on how its unrealistic? His question was on if he can tank as Fury or if he would have to change specs to tank instances (Im assuming hes not only speaking of current level instances but any instance). And I answered it. It is very doable to MT any non-raid instance as Fury or Arms (if that was his choice). Whether its BFD or UBRS or S.Halls. Yes you need to have the proper tank gear and yes being prot makes it easier but it is VERY doable. I will not sugar coat this for anyone. Fury/Arms tanking is difficult. Yes, you can Fury tank up to 70. No you will not be able to immediately jump into a Heroic and tank like you have before. Anyone that tells you that you cannot tank as Fury is either A) bad at it. or B) Brainwashed into thinking that Prot Tanking is the only way to tank.
Arideni- Please do not take offense to what I am about to say. It is not my intention to start any arguements, but telling someone they cannot tank as fury as your post suggests is what "leads to confusion & the spreading of rumors that counteract our efforts to inform less experienced players of the many options & philosophies associated with different playstyles". It is because of comments like the one that you made that make it very difficult for NON-Prot Warriors to get into instances.

Fury works if you have a pretty geared healer or one that is good. They take more damage which lets you gain more threat. It is just hard on the healer and if you have dps that likes to pull aggro off you then you will have more of a problem.
