Rotation is fine
Rotation is not fine, should be: life tap, immo, CoE/CoD,conflag, chaos, inc spam.
minor change, but you will notice a difference.

sry, I'll have to disagree....while I realize that some are affected by the server side lag worse than others (I personally have rarely seen it, and when I do I adapt to the situation typically by moving CB around or putting in a corrupion). If you have that delay, I would think rather than let immo not get benefit from the COE or COD not benefit from pyroclasm you'd stick in your other instant dot, corruption, in that delay to get more dps outa it.
Either way, a lot of this is nit-picking I realize and folks should try and see what works for them the best. This works for me the best and I thought others might be interested in other techniques and the reasons behind them rather than a rote rotation/cast sequence that people just regurgitate without the reasoning behind them.
I have to disagree with you there, corruption should not be casted unless you are moving, due to its DPET, so casting it after immo is a waste of a global cooldown. im pretty sure that asakawa said it somewhere, and that makes me think its right.
EDIT: from the sticky
Destruction = Life Tap (rank1) ► Immolate ► Curse of Doom ► Conflagrate ► Chaos Bolt ► Incinerate (spam, refresh DoTs and use Conflag and CB on cooldown)

sticky information really shouldn't be quoted as evidence. stickied info like that is the result of what "the community" accepts to be best practice and, as such, is always subject to change if game mechanics change or new evidence presents itself.
sylauren's post is very well reasoned and s/he accepts that it's a discussion about minutiae. getting pyro to boost your CoD is the best reason i've ever heard for casting CoD after conflag. the CoE before immo idea doesn't hold quite as much water but is also a reasonable approach to take.
the more it gets discussed the more i'm of the opinion that we should probably make more of an issue of priority orders rather than rotations since people can cast their first 6 spells in basically whatever order they wish and still see excellent results if they understand the priorities. also, the further we get through content the more i find myself having to hold back at the beginning of fights to allow for tank threat... though, of course, that may be down to my own experience with my usual tanks.

indeed. it's what we often talk about in the forum and i'm wondering why i never made more of a point about priorities in that sticky (fix incoming). i suppose i wanted to provide people with the basic knowledge they needed to get up and running without flooding them with too many details. i was also trying to avoid the situation you have with rogues where you so rarely see a discussion where people talk about when to actually use abilities. i didn't want to refer people to spreadsheets just to know how to play the basics of the class.
however, we're just not a class that uses a "rotation" any more and i even think most people understand this when they talk about rotations, knowing full well that what they mean is priorities.

the "lag" is real though lag is definitely the wrong word for it and casting something that will be cast anyway is an excellent use of time.
a better way to think of it is probably along the same lines as castsequence macros. those macros don't pre-cast so they won't start casting the next spell before the previous one has fired as we do as players allowing us to soak up a certain amount of lag. similarly, conflag won't fire until the flag has been raised on the server and the message sent to the client. as players (or at least, as good players) we constantly cast spells early and it's jarring to be prevented from doing this.
conflag is good. casting it early and often is the key to good numbers. however, casting nothing is bad. dead time kills our output. these are good principles to follow. the specific of the starter rotation could barely matter less, understanding relative importance seems to be the key to playing well.
