i have yet to get any gear from VoA. So i agree, yet raid drops are almost always useful for my guild

random loot is random...
With 25 people there's bound to be someone that wants most drops, so I'm not sure what else to say...

Do you tend to run without enchanters? Trash loot is kind of their specialty and EVERYONE needs high level enchanting mats.

I like the enchanting tidbit, but at the same time It shouldnt be too hard for blizard to not let class specific tier items drop from an instance that does not have any of that class in the instance. Granted, extending that into never dropping mail or leather if no leather or mail classes are present might be a stretch, but the tier items should be smarter.

the only real complaint i have in regards to the RNG loot system is class specific drops like voa for instance, 9/10 times we have less than every class present at least 1 piece if not every drop will be for the class that isn't present and is of absolutely no use to anyone present in the raid regardless of its use.
if it weren't a class only item but still useless to everyone present it could still be vendored, disenchanted, worn for laughs, used in pvp, w/e
while i understand and respect the randomness of what does drop i feel that in the presence of class only bop drops they should be filtered out of the loot table when the loot drops are determined based on the presence/abcense of said class/es
long story short, if the class isn't there the bop class item shouldn't drop

Even worse than an awful drop rate is when a pali rolls on it and wins
QFT.

Get over it, buy gear with your Emblems of Triumph.
Even without a single drop you can get into almost full ilvl 226 / 232 from emblems alone. And if that isn't enough for you then just buy the ilvl 245 crafted stuff.
Or get a good guild which actually tracks who got what.

So basically, all I've gotten out of this, is that you're complaining you haven't had any of the drops YOU wanted for YOURSELF drop from runs? However, the gear that has dropped (Such as in the ToC?) is perfectly viable for the OTHERS? Sorry, you say that the "lack" of drops makes you rage, but this thread makes ME rage.
Imagine if you got every single piece of gear you needed, everytime you ran, NO MATTER WHAT. How quickly would you gear up? A week, two weeks? Maybe a month at most. But let's be ambitious and say two months. New content comes out, oh, say, every three and a half months. And that's ambitious as well. What will you do for that month and a half? Piddle around? Level alts? Seriously?
I honestly don't feel like rambling on for forever, but basically, what you propose would slowly crush the WoW economy and the game. Enchanters would no longer have stuff to disenchant, people would be decked out and not need the enchanters in the first place, people wouldn't be buying the epics, emblems would all be used on gems, the gem price would plummet, etc, etc.
And about the VoA thing:
This is about the only place it would make sense to not have tier gear drop for other classes, but even then, it's still silly. If a piece of gear drops for our raid and we don't have the class (Which is very rare), most people do a /lol and we keep going. Life goes on.
EDIT: Oh, and before Ulduar was popular, I ran Naxx for the Torch of the Holy Fire eight times, each time ONLY for the Torch. So yeah....

Regardless of the banter, I gotta agree with the OP. I'd even stretch it to include non-class-specific drops as well. i.e. if there's no leather-wearers in the group, leather shouldn't be dropping. And so on.
Some might argue that this makes things too easy, and that people should QQ less and take their free emblems, and so on. The truth is, if you and your group are working to take out an instance, finally manage to push through it and drop the bosses.... if the final drop is something nobody in the group can use, that just plain sucks, imo.
tldr: Loot drops should be calculated randomly AND against classes present.
That might be difficult with some classes that can use any kind of gear to boost sp... but the mechanics of a logical loot drop table can be done, JC cuts and their drop mechanics are proof of this.
Also it would make epic and rare-quality enchanting mats, actually rare and epic, and not dirt cheap. Since it would stem the flood of shards and crystals coming in from unused loot.
Just my .02.

Note:
Loot is predetermined from the second you start the instance, NOT when you down the boss. So if you start out not having a druid, then have someone leave and gain a druid, druid gear will still not drop. (According to your theory)
In order to change this, they'd have to change the entire loot distribution and randomize it even more, making things even more complicated and straining the instance servers more.
