Seems that there are 3 bad locks for every good one. This is universally true for all classes.
As far as classes go, I don't think there is anything worse than a bad lock. At least a shaman will have bloodlust/heroism to make up for sucking.
Bit of an overstatement. We're just DPS. We don't make or break the raid or group like a bad tank or a bad healer can. You can just as easily say nothing is worse then a bad Warrior or a bad Priest (and it would probably be more true).

People hate
DESTRUCTION
warlocks because people were not used to see Warlocks doing burst damage with spikes of <8k, other classes had on their mind Warlocks doing dots and stead damage.
and also Warlocks aren't as bad as they were in the beginning of Wotlk, right now warlocks have a good survivability, a respected damage and not the best but excellent raid position.
The only problem is our pet's survivability which is beyond terrible.
People don't have any reason to complain about warlocks, we're on a good positing right now.
We have our counters in PvP, We have our utility on PvE and an average warlock can be successful on both (not like a shaman or a moonkin).
but those are exactly the reason why people hate warlocks so bad.

Rogues hate us because we have 2 forms of Stealth Detection (
Lesser Detect
and VW)
Detect Invisibility doesn't affect stealth detection...

To my knowledge, warlocks are a 'hated' class because of their dominance back in classic when fear was overpowered. Same as the way rogues tend to be badmouthed for the same reason, in particular world of roguecraft.
While over time the classes are rebalanced and buffed and nerfed, these days warlocks aren't as overpowered as they used to be, but the phrase 'warlocks are overpowered' or 'nerf fear' etc, seem to have stuck.
It's just an iconic part of the class that without considering their own class or today's settings, people's first casual responce to 'do you like warlocks' are a 'no, they are overpowered' one.
As far as I can see anyway.

I have nvr had anyone tell me Locks = Fail, and anyone who does knows nothing more then the 3 button smash their ebayed DK does.
I wouldnt listen, to many failures in your ear will make you doubt yourself.
and ztrapon: we dont always nuke (though i know what you mean) in PVP I suck the life out of them, even when I'm dead, which ppl hate even more!
oh and
And finally, warlocks. Warlocks are like mages, except far far superior. Fix ;)

And as for our support:
COE don't stack with Earth and Moon.
Demonic Pact don't stack with Totem of Wrath. And even if you bring a 2800+ spelldamage demo lock to raid, the overall dps will most likely be lower as demonology locks deal awful damage compared to destro.
Blood Pact don't stack with Commanding Shout.
Four other classes have Replenishment.
ISB is only slightly better than Improved Scorch.
Few builds use Felhunter, and even so chances are it dies anyway.
So basically there's Healthstones, fair enough. Soulstones are good, but not
that
good, and I can't see myself bringing a lock just for a one-person res once every 30 minutes.
Mage's class-unique support tools includes food, polymorph, Arcane Intellect and focus magic. It's not any major difference, but I would still say mages support are slightly better.
By the same right Impscorch/winters chill doesn't stack with imp shadowbolt.
Food is available elsewhere.
Sheep is one CC of many.
Focus magic is not what I'd call raid utility.
Even arcane int is available in a weaker form from fel hunters.
Just like the warlock list you gave, mage raid utility is available from other classes. Just about every raid buff is available from multiple sources short of BoK and Heroism/Bloodlust.
