Limiting myself to a main toon is tough.

Up until recently, I had been an alt-aholic. I had characters of varying levels spread all over different servers. After a while, I wound it down to four characters. I had a 57 blood elf rogue, a 70 night elf druid, a 45 draenei shaman, and an 80 night elf death knight. I sort of rotated them around but a few months ago I stopped playing all but the death knight.
I have been doing everything with the death knight, going back and getting old world and outland achievements, running dungeons, trying to get the best gear that I could, getting lots of reputations to exalted, etc. This is something that I had never done over the past four years or so of my playing the game - because I always split time between characters.
Mind you, my death knight is nowhere near as accomplished as some of the people that have the time to do any and everything. But for me, I've done alot.
The downside is that I have done so much on this character that I can't ever see myself doing any of this all over again. Not just leveling 1-80 (even though the DK started at 55), but all of the zones, all of the painful reputation grinds, all of the achievements ... So any other character I play at this point would feel less-than.
My dilemma comes with Cataclysm. They're redoing much of Azeroth, including giving us all new quests. I'd like to experience all of Cataclysm, including the lower level quests. I did intend to make a worgen and goblin just to do the starting areas, but I wasn't going to level them past that.
Even though it would be less fun because of the overkill, I was thinking of experiencing all of Cataclysm with the death knight. Sure she'd be ridiculously over-leveled to be running around in Ashenvale or the Barrens for questing, but they'd be quickly done and I would still get to see them without the pain of leveling slowly through them.
It seems better than leveling a new toon up to level 60, only to abandon them because I would not feel like doing Outland and Northrend again, not to mention doing the instance grinds or other grinds just to get them up.

I have multiple under-80 alts for the purpose of trying out other classes and professions. I hate leveling with a burning, burning passion. I'd rather dig out my eyes then grind, but in the end, I save myself much much gold by doing it. I get them to the bare minimum level and just let them rot away, except to cut an epic gem or to enchant a scroll and mail it to myself.

lul wut?
Would love to know your point, however if it is that you feel like you spent so much time doing stuff on your dk you dont want to level another alt becouse you dont want to do all the achivments and what not again. I feel you.
I have a druid that I work on a lot of achievements on and spend a lot of time on and I just recently starting leveling a hunter, sense I did spend so much time getting achievements on my druid I came up with a plan. I'm just not gonna focus on any of the achievements for my hunter. Simple as that, I did most of them on my druid so on my hunter i'm not gonna go out of my way to get anything (Unless its a MUST, like the rivendare mount from strath:P)
If thats not what your point/question was, my apologies next time I will get out my decoding ring I got from a wheaty's box.

I don't get the point. If you want us to say something, then I say, its your $15 do whatever you want.
I also say make a new character, get the BoA gear, level really fast to see the stuff, then roll worgen/goblin in cata (about two weeks later to avoid the server population explosions and queues), then level really fast and have fun.

I have a 70 priest, 70 shammy, 80 druid and 77 DK atm. Played for 7 months last year and have been playing for 6 this year. That being said, I have a few other alts between level 30 and 50, 2 or 3(account down so can't check now). So clearly I love alts.
My main is the druid and he is the only one I have cooking on and only one I'm farming achievements on. I'm planning on leveling a hunter or mage to 80 once my DK got all his gear from HC dungeon runs :D
Have a main and do achievements on him, alts are for fun so enjoy them and don't strain yourself:D

I have no problems staying to one char.
I've had my druid for 3 years, and it's my only char that I've spent any really time on (80 days play time, thank you!)
I did level a mage to 47 once though... But only because I had this thing for male belfs at the time.
I have another mage, a dreanei female that's just SO HAWT at lvl 77, but I mostly levled her because my friend needed the raf-buddy.

So YOUR that kid I hate!
Seriosuly thought, I dont hate anything more then a male blood elf. Have hated blood elfs when playing both horde and alliance.
