Lightwell is great, as long as you are in a guild that accepts it and factors it into their strategy. In PuGs it's as useful as a one-legged man in an arse kicking contest.
Personally I don't spec into it, simply because no-one on my server accepts it, and because all but the best guilds on my server at least semi-PuG.

My guild uses lightwells and its simply makes the TOGC go so much smoother.

It's true that Lightwell is not utilised anywhere near enough.
However, that's not a problem with the spell itself, it's a problem with the players who
should
be using it. I still don't see what's so tough about moving or following a rotation with one hand, then click a well with another.
Back in the Naxx days, when I was Holy, I'd drop one for the melee in many fights, and no one used it except the tanks. I kept speccing into it because the tanks kept using it, making the tank healer's job easier. However, I stopped speccing into it when I stopped raiding with that guild.

I don't see how it's so unusable... I'm a tank and when someone uses this near me I'll click it fast to get a little boost in health. =)

Light well is the best for Razorscale and XT, drop the well in the middle of the kite circle for the dragon, melee peels off and taps then run back to her as needed. And it's the best XT when it's behind his arse, melee just clicks on it as tantrum starts.
