Thats bad son, thats bad. It takes but a few seconds to drink, but it takes far longer to do away with 8+ mobs without consecrate.
Honestly, if you're not using consecrate as a leveling prot you might as well go ret.
Also, SoW JoW > Light for back in the day (before sweet sweet BoS). I was at full mana nearly all the time due to it, and if I ever got into trouble Id switch auras and heal, then make the mana back up again. No need for light, just make sure consecrate was doing what it was suppost to.
But now we have reckoning and SoL and its pretty damn hard to die.
One actually doesnt even need their shield to AoE grind at higher levels. But it will see a dip in DPS.
You're talking about semantics here.
I say I don't want to waste time drinking, but you'd rather drink and heal during battle. Time taken is time taken. My time was used doing fewer consecrates and finishing fights with full health and mana. your time was taken by killing a little faster, and then spending 30-40 extra seconds per pull to drink and cast heals in mid-fight. the above point is valid in that BoSanc is way better now than it used to be, it allows Light/Light all the time and consecrates if your pull is large enough.
Want to see what a AoE guide looked like back then? Here's from the old worldofwarcraft.com forums for how to AoE Grind Dated 1/21/08
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=4032680721&sid=1The strategy:
I am going to assume you are level 35 at this point, so you are in my favorite murloc camp (more on this later). Body pull about 3 or 4 of them and activate SoL. Notice that with several mobs hitting you, reckoning stays up a lot of the time. Thus, you're getting two chances per swing to heal. If you're taking extra damage this fight don't be afraid to judge SoL and then reactivate. With reckoning up thats a potential 4 heals in one swing!
Use consecrate once or maybe twice, but I tend to not use it a lot because if you do this correctly you should end the fight with nearly full health and mana, ready to do the next. That is what makes this tactic so efficient, if played carefully there is zero downtime between fights.
