I've leveled 3 mages, but I always lose motivation. First was level 18, second was 29 and third is 37. I think I changed spec at least 10 times on my current. Level 80 mages looks like alot of fun in BGs. Where can I find some leveling motivation? 8(

I have five level 70's and one level 80. Three different classes. This is since EU release in 2004.
I tried warlock to 16, but I'm sick of pet classes (three of my 70's are hunters).
Is AOE leveling faster than questing?
My mage armory is

For motivation, I would do the following.
Look for all the levels of spells and what levels they level up at. I'm always motivated to get to the next 'good' level to get the next level on some spells. For example, I'm 39 at the moment, and can't wait to get to 40 for the next level of Conjure Food and Conjure Water. I couldn't wait to get to 38 also because it was the next level for Frostbolt.
Cheers.

#$%^ my motivation to level is to not get left behind lol my guild is.... "making the progression" soon since we're all gettin into upper-70s and 80s.
my suggestion is find a leveling buddy. there's always someone in teh zone who'll group, or a guildie, or a friend, or SOMEONE.
personally im lfg every second im on. when i lose focus and start walking in circles around uc, ettin into a party and trashing recount gets my head back in teh game :D
of course you could always just promise yourself a hot tub full of strippers once you ding 80-- thatd motivate ME even if i knew it was a lie :P

The "get excited about the next cool skill" really does the trick for me. And will work until you ding to 80, since you always get some nice skills at that level, doesn't matter wich class you're playing.
yeah, but when i was levelling my mage from 70-80 when LK launched, i was really disappointed at most of the levels at the lack of decent trainer abilities as you move up the ranks.. they could've very easily made mages keep up with the training every 2 levels instead of every level.
i remember one level i got... like mana shield, and flamestrike upgrades... i was like "wtf.. really? that's it?" lol

I'm levelling arcane and my motivation is simple...
I want the high level gear. I want to throw down Mirror Image and run around in my high level gear.
All the while slapping slow and AB on the worms that are my opposition.
Plus Netherwind Presence is certainly motivating.

I found that the one thing that really puts me off leveling is annoying downtime. I hate watching my char to sit on the ground drinking for 20 seconds every few mobs. It's just so annoying and it kills all the fun for me.
The solution for this problem was to chose a Druid and a Shaman as my main characters. The Druid has no downtime from lvl 10 on (kill stuff as bear and later as cat and then enjoy the full mana whenever you want to heal, feral specced), the Shaman has no downtime from lvl 20 on (water shield provides basically unlimited mana so there is always enough to spam attack skills and heal, enhance specced).
There may be other classes that manage to get the same no-downtime-leveling experience (I heard good things about Paladins and Hunters) but Mages are sadly not one of them :( I also don't really enjoy my Mage so far.
