Most say that ret. makes leveling a bit faster because you can kill mobs quicker but I think that after the new patch that is not as much a valid point anymore. Protection is cool because you can survive encounters that would send others running and screaming in to the night. Holy is sweet because you will be sought after for groups which can yield nice xp and quick leveling. So really it is all in what you want to do. Heck, you can try all three and see which is better for you. I started ret. until 40, then holy until 56 and now I am prot. and I love it. The only thing that I can really advise is if you go holy make sure you keep a dps set of gear and weapon too because that will help kill mobs a little quicker.

i think prot is good for levelling u can pull so many mobs at once, particularly after holy shield + blessing of sanctuary! y dont u go prot and try out a melee class? i mean uve been a healer before right y not try being a melee then?

emmm a few must haves for prot.. improved righteous fury! and make sure its always active whenever ur playing WoW! reduced 6% damage and 90%more threat when ur tanking in a group is always nice.. sacred duty! a 6% stamina bonus crucial for u, CD reduced and the only downside of bubbling disappears!! reckoning!! a must hv, every pally will say that reckoning is a must hv for questing grinding or watev.. blessing of kings! lots of pally's go semi prot just for this talent :] toughness! where armor so important for a tank.. holy shield! the bread and butter of tanking multiple mobs witha shield! see there u go lol :]

In a raid, I never bless it, for soloing and regular 5 mans, i never use it, the only time i do use it is heroics.
toughness! where armor so important for a tank..
Depends
armor does add up, but it isn't a life or death decision
2% AC/ talent point
let's say you just got to level 70 and you have 10k armor
2% = 200 AC
that's ~1%
physical
damage reduction / talent point
regular instance mob hits you for ~300
1% = 3 damage
"meh"
i have 4/5 in toughness in my build, but i could probably make due with 2/5

hey blademeld, i get y toughness isnt so important.. :] but dont u think blessing of kings is one of the most useful talents for hybrid classes lyk ourselves, some type of shamans and such? i mean in lvl 70 where ur attributes r at their highest the 10% stat bonus makes a big difference no?

yes, but there is at least 1 holy paladin in a raid...

is this okay? what would you all change?
Imp devo aura, useless
guardian's favor, useless
imp HoJ, useless in a raid
conviction, useless
SoC, arguable, but most consider it useless
Reckoning weakens with raid progression
precision, adds hit
anticipation, adds avoidance
one handed spec, more threat than reckoning (arguable, but it strengthens with raid progression)
ardent defender, not a must have, but it's good when you need it
combat expertise, 10% stam?
deflection, extra avoidance
