Game starts at 80, if you don't know what to do I don't know what to say really..I remember when I first hit 60 and I had so many things I wanted to accomplish and obtain on my character I didn't even know where to start.

woot woot :D big grats on 80 vsnyder8.
now you can do what all the rest of us 80's do.
stand around in dal for hours on end.
if that's not exciting enough for you, you can try the death defying stunt of running around aimlessly in dal.
wowhead's sons of hodir page
they sell some nice
shoulder enchants
once you become honored with them.
i really don't have any advice that hasn't already been given here. i hope your family in your guild can level to 80 soon so you guys can start doing dungeons together :). i find dungeons/raids much more enjoyable with people i know and can have fun with.
here's some links to some of the easier dungeons that i think would be good to start with (linked so you can browse loot). . .
Nexus
Utgarde Keep
The Violet Hold
Drak'Tharan Keep
also once you start getting some nice gear frome emblems, you should defently check out
Trial Of The Champion
. on regular mode the bosses drop some pretty nice
item level 200 gear
, on heroic they drop
item level 213 gear
.
anyhow grats again :)

Fixed. Reg TOC5 (Trial of the Champion), not to be confused with TOC10/25 (Trial of the Crusader), has some great loot for mages. I ran my mage through reg about 10-15 times from 78-80 and picked up 7 iLvL 200 peices including
Abyssal Rune
. Then I crafted myself the
Titansteel Spellblade
on my Blacksmith main and had a guildie tailor craft me some
gloves
,
chest
, and
back
. Those along with a few drops from heroics and I'm about ready to run H TOC5 to start getting my 219 loot.
Kirin Torr is probably the first rep grind you want to do, maybe tied with Sons of Hodir, followed by Wyrmrest Accord. Just get the tabards for Kirin Torr and Wyrmrest, requires friendly but Mages start at friendly with Kirin Torr, and keep running heroics for badges. Once you get 2 pieces of badge gear iLvL 226, hopefully along with a few 219 pieces from H TOC, you can start running Ulduar. Or if you really want to start raiding, you can run Naxx even before you get badge gear.
Yes, get your hit rating up, it's not easy at first. Also raise your cooking if you want so you can make
Snapper Extreme
to help your hit rating. If cooking is too boring for you then just buy some.
It only get's better from here. Soon enough you'll be going after heroic achievements because heroics are too easy. And building alternate armor sets for secondary specs and specialized fights because you have tons of badges going to waste.
Don't forget to max out your professions, do dailies, and farm for gold. Raiding isn't cheap with repairs, flasks, buff food, scrolls, and drums. Personally I like walking into a PUG w/o a
Priest
,
Druid
, or
Paladin
(unlikely), and saying no problem, I've got the buffs.

Do you hodir dailies and get exalted ASAP, run heroics, then run 10 mans after about two weeks.
