I've got a question...

So I just bought a computer from a friend. It's not great but it'll do good with a few upgrades. Here's some specs...
Dual core AMD 2.6ghz... Can't give exact info as it's not hooked up right now...
ATI Radeon x1200 series Video card...
2gb of RAM... HDD doesn't matter does it?
Oh and if it matters, a 15.5 inch monitor...
Now here's the question: will this run WoW decently? I'm not talking high settings and in a 25 man, I'm talking low settings in a 10 man with like 20+fps...
Does it qualify? Also, i'm thinking of upgrading it sometime within the next few coming months...

That sounds pretty close to what I have and I run everything pretty good at the lower settings. Can't vouch for 10-mans though since I rarely raid.

I'd throw in another GB of ram. Maybe update the vid card, doesn't have to be anything spectacular. I've also run WoW in a single core P4 2.4ghz with 20+ fps in raids, so your processor is more than good enough. And although people don't realize this, but HDD size and space does matter. The larger your hard drive, or the fuller it gets, then the longer it takes to retrieve information off it. I myself have a smaller main drive for all my games, and a secondary that I use to store other files on such as music, pics etc.

Well, I have a 250gb HDD, give or take 45 gigs. I have in fact emptied it of some stuff I knew wasn't needed, but I have a friend that will take the HDD to the limit. I am also going to put around 2 more gigs in there for sheer satisfaction. I might even get an external hard drive just for gits and shiggles.
But you're saying, Strand, that if my main HDD stays mostly empty, raiding shouldn't lag me up too much?

I wouldn't guarantee that it would help with raiding, but it would help with overall game play. As for ram, if you have windows vista/7, then 2gigs is good. If you're running XP however, you would only need 1 more gig as XP won't recognize any more than 3bg of ram. Anything more than that is just a waste.

It doesn't matter what OS it is, it depends on if the OS is 32-bit or 64-bit. 32-bit will only address up to 3.2 GB of RAM, while 64-bit can handle whatever you can put on your mobo.
To the OP: Just slap on another 2 GB's of RAM and a good mid range video card (something like
this
) and you'll be fine.

To be precise a 64 bit OS can address 192gb of ram.

Well, I have Vista 32-bit... I'm thinking of putting window 7 on there but frankly, I do not feel like paying $? for it...
