Instanced WG

So I was in a WG last night and was still just like always amazed at the lag we had. So I was thinking why not Instance wintergrasp. Not like a instance with just 1 entrance or like bGs wehre you have to que for them. I mean like a huge buble instance portal over WG that when you hit it you have to load the instanced version. Of coarse it is unlimited number of people so its not like 40 vs 40 or something. but you cut off the outside poplulation numbers so that you don't have to worry about wg lag as much.

WG doesn't lag when there is not a battle, even if it is instanced and there are 500 pepole in there it's going to lag.

ok maybe set it to be an instance cover like if you go down into it you get instanced and just put the FP to fly over it. but yeah I see where this would be a problem.

I think, for the most part, people confuse lag for choppy graphics when discussing WG. Yes, there is lag on the server when WG runs, yes it can be noticeable, but it's certainly manageable. The choppy graphics are all on the user cheaping out on their computer.

yeah well its not choppy graphics when you click the guy to get a siege engine and wait 30 secs to open the chat. I have a 10 meg connection and every last person in my WG group states teribble lag.

It's not about your connection, it's about server load. At least for the most part. I can participate in WG just fine on my 64kbps Dial-up connection.

Wintergrasp has lag because there are too many people there, amazingly Blizzard didn't anticipate that many people on each server attending, and sadly there is nothing they can do about it, in fact they point the blame for the lag at you, the players! (Well sort of -
Blue Post
)
Basically since patch 3.1 more PvE orientated players have joined in to get a hit at the big piñata inside, this has on most servers doubled the amount of people here (you can spot them because they have Ulduar gear) and has caused the lag, however they don't bother with PvP gear which means for hardcore PvPers it's a true Honor farming moment... if not for the lag.
For PvPers, wait it out, eventually things will die down
For PvEers, Haven't you got other things to do than to dabble in the art of gankage?

Would also complicate taking a flight path that passes through WG (for instance going from dalaran to scholozar basin) or even your flying mount just passing through. if there was an "instance bubble" you would have to pass through it and enter the instance... seems like it would cause a lot of problems.
As I recall, flight paths don't cut through WG ever.
Maybe this changed?

True, you pinpointed the problem.
All my lag problems concerning wow were solved when i upgraded my PC. There is some miliseconds of lag in WG, but the whole thing runs smoothly.
good for you but join WG when atleast is 200+ people there you will lag cause of server overload (what they blame atleast)
if its FRP lag its pc
if the skills delay for 10 more sec its server
the problem is, that WG > bgs and pvp in general for reward is much greater then rest of pvp (except arena)
ust moved AV grind house to WG grind house

What are you? Working for Blizzard?
Blizzard still claims that WG causes no lag, which is the biggest lie i've ever heard. I can't even quest in Northrend, no matter which zone i'm in, whenever WG is going on. Dragonblight is the worst by far though. It takes me 30+ seconds to simply accept a group invite/summon/quest, let alone how terribly annoying/hard it is to actually attempt the quests. My spells/abilities won't even take affect until a good 5 or 10 seconds after i've pressed the button. I have a really good gaming computer, too. Spent over 1,000 dollars on it. 8 GBs of ram, 1TB of Hard Drive Space, top of the line graphics/sound cards, the works and I still get terrible lag.
What Blizzard SHOULD do is either remove WG entirely from the game, (it's really not that great to begin with) and maybe enhance the regular Battlegrounds to either give better daily rewards/honor points or so that they are more fun and bring a bigger population to them.
OR,
Simply put a cap on Wintergrasp. Make it so that only so many people can be on each team. I'm not going to sit here and discuss how many people each team gets, they can do that and probably fail at it, too. I don't see why people who come so late, burden people with WG Raid invites, don't do any of the work, can still manage to complete their dailies and get the same reward everyone else does who actually helped with the victory and have to endure all of that awful lag. First come first serve. If you're too busy farming for gold, doing heroics, or simply BSing with your friends/guild, then you're out of luck. That'd reduce a ton of lag. There's no reaon whatsoever for there to be an uncapped Batlleground. That's ridiculous. Not to mention the fact that Blizzard constantly denies it causing any lag. I have yet to do a single WG that I didn't lag in. I don't even attemp to opperate the siege tanks due to the 30 second wait caused by extreme lag.
WG is NOT worth it IMO. The Offensive team wins every single time anyways. No matter what the number of teams are. It's simply TOO laggy to defend WG well enough to earn a victory while on defense.

And to add to my previous post -- I think it's ridiculous that you get credit for the kills just by being near them when they take place. It's so incredibly easy to gain honor points that having a decent set of PvP gear isn't even something to admire anymore. I can join a WG, not do any work and still leave with a good hunk of gold, and well over 1,000 honor points, just from standing around once we enter the fortress. At least in the regular BGs you have to actually participate in order to gain some honor. Now noobs have all sorts of BG PvP gear because honor points is so easy to farm due to WG.
I'm at least happy that they've made it so that the actual GOOD PvP gear comes from Arena Points, not Honor Points from BGs.
That's one thing i'll give them credit for.
But still, i've done Arenas with a lot of noobs that you can tell have basically been handed their PvP set. WG isn't worth it, i'm tellin' you.
