Your prob like wth? Yeah WTH is right. I have 4 frigan 80's and I have an bad addiction and here is how it works. I can't play more then 1 alt. Once i move onto a new one the old one might as well be deleted unless and its my druid that has mining and herb maxed for gold farming.. But I will not do BG's raids or anything else on him.
So right now I want to make THE character. yes the one I will do like 10000 Achievements on explore the old world the works.. The one I spend 15 hours a day on fishing for fun and pushing for every achievement I can.
So it's come down to the following Classes...
Rogue or Mage..
I am with my friend doing refer a friend showing him the game and getting him to know it better and hoping my addiction is passed out.
Rogue is cool for PVP that is for sure I know it's not the best or anything but they can pick and choose quite good without needing to run or die if its not worth it.
Mage on the other hand I enjoy the idea of spell power. Spell power sounds so much fun twinking as much as you can.. I was playing my friends 80 running through some instances for my lower level and things like this Arcane Barrage or frostfire bolt are really amazing.. In fact the only 2 spells beside the AOE arcane one I used to go through the instances...
Anyways could you guys and I know most say its what you want to play suggest to me what class the mage or rogue has better time doing instances pve grinding like farming mobs dailys and such..
Thanks

no one likes rogue, work on the mage, its a lot easier to grind rep with a mage (achievements and mounts are your reward :P)

Mage,
The rogue is overplayed, to the point where you can't walk into any town and not see one, they're everywhere, mage on the other hand has got to be the best damage dealing class in the game and not many people play them anymore, at least not on horde side, if that's the faction you're on.

Don't listen to these people, their logic is flawed. Play whatever class appeals to you most, not what some forum poster tells you he tolerates the most.
Rogue
- Roll it if you like having good PvE and PvP potential. If you like being undetectable to your enemies, using daggers and getting the jump on people most of the time, roll the Rogue. Rogues have very good control over their opponent when played right. With Stealth and Vanish, you can pick your fights. L80 coming to gank you? Stealth while he is headed your way and book it. Ret Paladin charging towards you in a BG? Stealth and Sap him to bend him over.
Mage
- If you like being 'Master of the Arcane'... this class is for you. They are the iconic spellcaster and have 3 unique, interesting and different talent trees allowing you to spec into three different schools of magic: Arcane, Fire, and Frost. All three trees have viability somewhere in the game, and all 3 are enjoyable as hell. Arcane gives you good mobility whilst hindering your opponent and launching powerful, quick spells such as Arcane Barrage, Missle procs, etc. Fire is the destructive, hard hitting school. Though most of its casts are long, you can pull off some massive damage with them. Frost is mostly identified as the 'PvP tree'. You get a number of different ways to slow your opponent, freeze them, and maintain great distance from melee. Nobody gets the jump on the Mage, as their Blink spell can be used in any situation. (Excluding Silence :P )
I have leveled both of these classes to 80, hit Ulduar with both, and had plenty of Arena/BG experience with both. I can tell you either one is a great choice. If played correctly, you'll shine.
Ok ya sure our "logic is flawed" lol, he asked us what class he should play and he said hes going to go for all the achievements. And since you said that about my logic, you look stupid because mage IS the best for AoE farming and thats what you have to do for some of the rep achievements.
its not because I tolerate the mage the most, it is a fun class to play, and considering he was asking what he should play, we answered his question and I gave some of my reasons why I thought so. I have messed with both classes too, I didn't level them to 80 (yet, but I don't plan on working on a rogue to 80, as I see them as nothing but the most useless grieving class)

So many things is wrong here. There is no best damage dealing class and rogues are certainly not overplayed.
You are right on the first point, but you are quite possibly wrong on the second point. The amount of rogues per server varies greatly, and the chances of them being overplayed are very high. Alot lower now that a class that takes even less skill (DK) has arisen, but it is still quite possible.

Until somone can be bothered to come up with any evidence to back up there overplayed claims. I wouldnt pay much attention.
Also the entire point of playing a rogue is to cause grief. What do you expect them to do pop out of stealth shout "nuke away". All this rogue baiting is just nonsense, any class played well in pvp can be dangerous.

There are too few Alliance/Horde/Alliance and Horde entries for this realm to give reliable results! Please help today by submitting data for this realm!
Now, if you'd look at
this
, you'd see that on average, at 80, Rogues are the least played class.

Oh my there sure are alot of rogue haters here. I got both a mage and a rogue, and i love
my rogue most, but i guess its different from person to person. Dont listen to all those "everyone hates rogues, mages got the higest damage, bla bla bla." Id say make one of each and level them to 20 and then go with the one you had most fun with.
