I liked Old World too (in the short time I played it) but out of the three, TBC is truly my favorite, then Old World, then.... WotLK.
Karazhan = FTW. :)

ya pretty much...
anyway, to the OP, dude the expansion hasn't come yet, you have till next november at the most (best bet really) to enjoy the old world. I will be happy with the changes, its like the efforts from certain quests you did before will have an effect in zones (wailing caverns and some others i can't think of).

Indeed, barely got to play during WoW classic due to the fact that i did not own an acc abck then just sum friends who played. BUt i enjoyed it AV seemed so epic and yeah it really felt much more like an accomplishment to get to 60 and have a mount...
But for blizz the adventure had lasted too long so they went ahead an made expansion after expanson refusing to make a classic realm so people who hasnt tried classic yet could see how it feels... just because they they want control and hold things within a tight leech... Why couldnt i enjoy the outland and northrend as much as classic WoW zones? because Outland is supposed to be all red and hellish and Northrend just one big frozen wasteland covered in snow...

As a newish player i understand exactly what you mean OP. Im only lvl 55 now, but am in NO hurry to get up to 80. I mean i AM excited to be able to go raid with my guild and stuff, but i LOVE exploring and questing around Kalimdor and the kingdoms- ALL over. Just fun. Hell, i havent even been to Outlands or anything.
As some one who came in mid-wrath, i must say i wish mightily i would have been able to play when it was just up to 60.
Especially now that just when im starting to get the hang of things around the two continents and suddenly i hear how they're going to be drastically changed whether you get Cat or not!
Makes me feel kinda hurried for sure.

This sentiment always confuses me. If you want to take your time leveling and enjoy the quests and scenery, then by all means do so. No one is forcing you to speed level. Don't pretend that the modest exp. boost has somehow ruined your game play.
QFT. If you want to level through the old world and enjoy it, then just do all the quests that are there. Even if you're a level 46 you can still do the Stranglethron Vale quests that are available at lower levels if that's what makes you happy. No one forces you to level quickly and skip over quests.
I can't really share this whole sentiment because I came in 2 months after BC was released, but the developers are not making the game "easier." They're making it less tedious. For people who want to play endgame on their alts, they're making it faster, not easier. There's a difference between the two. You can now go through the content more quickly if only the end interests you, but all the quests are still as difficult as before, save for about 10-15 of them where things that used to be elite are now soloable. Ooh, that totally breaks the game.

What I miss most about old world was the atmosphere. There was actual civilization around, and everything wasn't always on fire. Elwynn Forest was, for the most part, a decent place to live that was dealing with a bandit problem.
Then we go to Outland, a dying planet that is slowly falling apart and whose only capitol is a city full of refugees and two moronic faction at each other's throats over who a giant lightbulb likes better.
Northrend was even more desperate, a barren snowy wasteland, broken up by occasional tundra and an odd, out of place jungle. There's a big floating city there, but nobody has time to enjoy it because they're under attack by an insane dragon flight while they're also trying to plot the demise of giant undead emo kid.
