I just don't get why people consider hunters so op. Here's the deal, I play a hunter, have 840 resil mix of deadly and hateful gear with kt25 gun. I 2v2 with a resto druid who's geared about the same. We got to 1700 without too much trouble, then slowly pushed to 1800, usually going like 12-10 for the week and ranking up 30 pts or so. But this week we went 1-9...
I know most people think hunter is just spam explosive shot, but the thing is it's so easy to just sit on hunters and kill their dmg, and we take a lot of dmg with no spell mitigation and just mail armor. Death knights completely obliterate me (pun intended, unless they're unholy, then they gargoyle/gnaw stun lol/scourge strike me). They sit right on top of me with death grip and chains of ice, they almost always have paladins to dispel and freedom them (although I can dispel freedom, even 1-2 seconds of immunity through my trap while I'm snared is enough time to close the distance), they do as much if not more dmg than me and even at range they do lots of dmg, they pet stun me to make them harder to kite, it's just ridiculous.
Warriors are an issue too. I know, you're thinking warriors are the easiest class to kite, which is only partly true. Intercept stun garuntees they'll be able to drop bombs on you every 20 seconds. Fury warriors are probably only on top of me 15 seconds out of a minute, but do you realize how much dmg they dish in those 15 seconds? 2k non crit whirlwinds, 3500 bloodthirsts, it's insane. That plus a heal debuff makes it hard to heal through their burst.
The thing is I can't figure out if it's because I have a druid healer or because I'm just bad at kiting. I feel like most top hunters are doing it because they have shamans who can heal through anything and are hard to cc, or paladins who can spam them with freedom and dispels. My druid gets crushed by dks who dispel all his hots, and he goes oom faster than any other healer it seems. Druid cc is nice, but because the hots get eaten by every dk and shaman purging team my druid rarely has time to cc. If the cc misses or is los'd we lose very valuable heals. It's insane how coordinated we have to play to beat melee teams. The only easy melee is rogue and that's cus my druid dispels poison and all the rogues are mut, not shs so they have to way to get close without sprint.
So what gives? What should I do, just get better or find an easy mode healer to group with? Laugh if you want but I really don't think hunter is easy at all compared to melee classes and paladins.

I'm not proving anything but it you look at all the hunter teams they're always paired up with pallys, sometimes shaman. I don't think it's the hunters that are op...
DKs is the same way, how many dk + druid comps do you see in the top 50? I don't feel dks are massively op but their pally support makes them nuts.
It's just very obnoxious for other players to assume that oh you're a hunter, arena should be a joke for you, then get rolled by every pally dk because I play with a druid.

Nah, it's the hunters. What you are missing with a resto druid healer is mobility. The advantage of haveing a holy paladin is that he keeps you moving. This makes you nearly impossible to kill. When you are a kiter, and have a DK on you with chans that can't be dispelled, and an aoe that slows everything on top of it, it's very hard to kite the damage that you need to avoid.
It's not that paladins are overpowered. It's that paladins shine at keeping dps moving, which makes them more versatile, since it's the age of burst damage.
In 2v2, unless you are a feral druid, go with a holy pally IMO. If he's skilled, you will be moving 80-90% of the time at top speed. Even if you are a feral druid, having the pally is great, but the offensive purge from the shammies is a nice crutch to nuking a healer faster, and disc priests, while able to dispel and mana burn, run out of mana quickly.

No, they're overpowered. They have the best mana efficiency of all healers, best regen, best defensive abilities, best mobility, best at giving others mobility, and highest hp. (plate does give more stam then cloth) Even if PvP weren't all about burst damage, I would be my life that Paladins would still be the best healers. Best instant burst heal in the game on a 6 second CD...
Hehe, OK... But IMO, there are better healers for 3v3. It's pretty rough as a paladin in 3v3 just by splitting dps and throwing interupts/cc on the paladin.(or maybe I just suck at healing multiple targets without bacon....)

There are better healers for 3v3 yea, but in 2v2 freedom is where it's at.
Anyway, I have used both crab and cat in pvp and get similar results. Why? Crab pin is useful, but not entirely game breaking and is hard to get exactly on demand if you leave the crabs claw on auto cast. You'll get lost in gcds and no focus sometimes trying to get pin off. The roar of sac is awesome, but generally leaves my pet at very little hp and he dies. It rarely saves me, but has saved my druid a few times. But they're nerfing that anyway.
Biggest issue with crab tho is other teams simply kill it, fast. If it gets an ms on it it's toast. And dks have no trouble killing it because they purge most of the druids healing. We can't go oom trying to heal my crab. Cat has a self heal and a res, so most teams won't go for it, or it'll heal itself through the first assault, res after the second and at that point they've wasted too much energy on it.
I really hope they finally fix pets and give them resil and give all pets access to heart of the pheonix self res. It's ridiculous how some teams operate- they just train your pet til it's dead then train you and it almost always works just cus pets are so weak.
So yeah I know I could be playing better, but it doesn't seem worth it judging from my experience and the posts here. I think I'm gonna try to find a 5v5

Personally, I think pet's and crit resistance should be a BM talent. So you can choose to be an overpowered spammer of explosive shot, or have a more durable pet that doesn't die in 4 seconds.
Considering all the kiting, slows, stuns, etc, etc.... That's just me I guess. Maybe it's just me, but any hunter standing in the middle of an open area won't get a melee on him while resing his pet unless the melee has a good shot of killing him. If he did, hmm, I guess you could call that bait, eh?
I have no simpathy for hunters(mainly cause I play 2 melee classes), but I don't hate them as I do DK's. =)
Hunter is a skill class(for the most part). In arena, the quality of the skills really show.

you guys need to play a hunter and then come back here, you have no idea what it is to play anything other than your class do you? I've played most of the classes other than healers and nothing is as cut and dry as it seems. If you're getting killed by a hunter in 5 seconds you're the one doing something wrong. Try los'ing for a change or if you're a warrior or dk, get some heals and spam chains of ice and intercept.
And no, you can't heal a pet through melee burst unless you know it's coming, but any quick switch kills the pet too fast. Same goes for lock pets, we train them all the time because they're so easy to kill. Both need resilience added.
I'm going to start looking for another healer or wait to 3.1 for more 2v2s. DKs are too frusterating to fight in the current state.

Uhh, ok. First off, unless that clothie has @#%& health, then one ES certainly won't drop a clothie in one shot.

LOL. You've never been stunlocked by a rogue as a hunter, have you? It goes something like this:
Rogue: stun, stun, mut, mut, stun, more mut
Now, if you even manage to pop your trinket in the...5 seconds of time you've got, and manage to Disengage AND pop a frost trap to try and keep the rogue where you were, the rogue simply vanishes/sprints; there goes 3 of our CD's, and it takes a total of about 10 seconds for a rogue to be back up and ready to rape us again. We can do the same thing with freezing trap as well; only the rogue pops their trinket, and they vanish. Same thing; we're screwed.
(Yes, I did make an account solely to post for this thread =p)
