For example the ZAM alienware givaway contest- I periodically see these kind of things, an am normally very suspicious about entering any contest i see online, that i cant verify in person. Obviously having been here for a while i can tell that wowhead is pretty legit and doesnt allow linking to dangerous sights and stuff, but i dont know anything about these other places they are linking me to, asking for my adress and phone number. I would like to enter the odd contest i suppose, especially if the prize might help me play wow better, but i am a dedicated pessimisst and cant convince myself its totally safe since i never saw anything that said my info would be kept private.
anyway looking for a little reassurance here, im just curious, and maybe if some one could hit me over the head with the facts I could put this issue to rest. if this is in the wrong place move it by all means. Thanks.

No. It's not safe here, get out now!
Given that the post is from a blue, I'd say it's safe and legit.

Given that the post is from a blue, I'd say it's safe and legit.Just to be clear, Blue on Wowhead doesn't mean Blizzard Employee, it means Wowhead Admin.
Just thought there might be some confusion there as this thread is about trusting Wowhead. You sound like you're saying 'You can trust them because they work for blizzard'. Maybe I'm just reading too much into your statement, but if you can't trust Wowhead as a whole, you can't trust it's blue posts either.
That said, I've never had, or heard of, any trouble with ZAM or Wowhead. I never even receive emails from them.

No i was never under the impression that this was an official site, or that blue or green txt had ANYthing to do with blizzard.
I just didnt really know who ZAM was. After lurking here long enough i Trust Wowhead to not do anything malicious knowingly.
I just dont know any of these other sites that they advertise sometimes(like ZAM) I dont know who they are, I dont lurk there, i dont intend to lurk there long enough to find out. I also dont see anything that says they keep your information private when you fill out a contest form with personal info on it. Thats basically what this thread is about.
Obviously many people here sign up and stuff, i just want to know if it ever backfired on some one or they ended up getting any ad/mal/spyware from an admin linking something here. Or even onto some mailing list or something.
I sorta trust the wowhead guys not to do anythign knowingly, but i dont trust anyone else.
Does that explanation make sense?

If you can trust wowhead, you can trust ZAM, they're one in the same.
Actually, if you sign up for Premium Wowhead service, you get a premium account with all ZAM sites.

I wasn't trying to say that as I know blues here aren't Blizzard. But then, my post wasn't very descriptive in general. To be more specific:
I'd trust it because the post is from a Wowhead Administrator. Administrators aren't going to post belligerent links on their own website unless they want several cargo ships full of hate mail.

That was the only reason for my response. That's why it started 'Just to be clear'. ;)

I know. And I was being more clear. Then you were being clear. I was clearing up your being clear.
I totally forgot what we are even talking about.
Wowhead is run by vampires, but I trust them anyway.

They're not the Lord Dracula vampires though. They're not afraid of Belmonts, just regular stuff, like garlic and
aliens
.
